Bangladesh managed a face-saving 1-1 draw with Nepal in their last match in Yangon on Tuesday after conceding humiliating 0-5 goals defeat against upper-ranked and hosts Myanmar and 1-7 goals loss against their well-known next-door rivals India in the 2nd match.
With players’ average age of 18 years, the Bangladesh team got off to a frustrating start losing to Myanmar by 0-5 goals in the first match.
In the last Group C match, hosts Myanmar beat India by 2-1 goals on Monday to be the group champions.
On completion of the four-team Group C matches, top-seed Myanmar secured seven points from three matches to clinch the group title with unbeaten runs, India finished group runners-up collecting four points from three matches while Nepal became 3rd with unbeaten run securing three points from as many matches to qualify for the 2nd round of the meet.
Off-coloured Bangladesh Women’s team finished bottom to be eliminated from the meet bagging only one point from all three matches conceding 13 goals scoring two goals, one each by Krishna Rani Sarkar and Anki Khatun.
