Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar on Saturday said a stronger Teletalk, the state-owned operator, would have brought about a groundbreaking change in mobile phone service.
He made the remark while addressing the 15th annual general meeting of Teletalk at its headquarters in city’s Gulshan area.
Mentioning people’s higher expectations from Teletalk, the minister instructed the authorities concerned to take appropriate steps for speedy implementation of ongoing projects to meet the expectation.
“A groundbreaking change would be introduced in mobile phone service if Teletalk becomes stronger”, he added.
About launching 5G service in the country, Minister Jabbar said Bangladesh is among several countries who are going to launch the technology for the first time in the world.
“The image of Bangladesh has changed in the world after the inauguration of 5G test run last year,” he said, adding at least six countries expressed their interest to invest here since then.
Ashok Kumar Biswas, board chairman of Teletalk Bangladesh Ltd, presided over the occasion.
