Dhaka, April 7 (UNB) - The recent stormy weather conditions has been disrupting the power supply and impacting mobile network across the country, said Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) on Sunday.
Once the network sites get down, it takes hours to be re-established, Amtob said in a press release.
Though Mobile Network Operators’ (MNO) have power backup systems, they are only able to keep up network sites for around 8 hours and after that there is complete site outage in some areas.
On Saturday’s storm, nearly 50 percent of all network sites in the country were left without commercial power.
Amtob has requested the authority concerned to take necessary measures to eliminate mobile subscribers suffering due to prolonged power outages.
