Dhaka, Dec 30 (UNB) – Only hours after restoration, 3G and 4G mobile services were suspended again on Sunday night “for the sake of state security and to prevent rumours.”
Sources at Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) said the mobile operators were asked to suspend the services around 9pm until further notice.
The mobile operators shut down the services around half an hour later.
Earlier, the services were restored at 6pm on Sunday, after a suspension of about 28 hours. The voting in Bangladesh’s national election ended at 4pm.
3G and 4G services had been unavailable from 3pm Saturday, the day before the election. 2G service was suspended later that night.
On Thursday, BTRC ordered suspension of 3G and 4G services but later withdrew the directive after about 10 hours.
