Jubo League activist stabbed to death in Chattogram
A Jubo League activist was stabbed to death by some miscreants at Mirerhat in Chattogram's Sitakunda upazila Sunday evening.
The deceased was identified as Mohammad Yusuf, 35, son of Madin Ullah of the Nunachhara area of the municipality, said Tofayel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda police station.
Locals said the incident took place around 6pm when some miscreants numbering 20-25 swooped on Yusuf when he along with his friends were taking evening snacks in a restaurant in the Bottola area.

They stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him severely injured.
He was rushed to the Upazila Health Complex where the doctors declared him dead.
"Additional police force has been deployed in the area to avert further trouble," added the OC.
The reason behind the murder could not immediately be confirmed, said the officer.
Man stabbed to death in Dinajpur
A 36-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by some miscreants in Dinajpur's Birganj upazila on Friday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Amal Debnath, son of late Dhirendra Debnath of Choupukuria village of Sator union of the upazila. He worked as a waiter in a local hotel.

Subrata Kumar Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Birganj Police Station, said a group of miscreants swooped on him over an old enmity in the Singra Shalban area around 1pm.
"Amal died on the spot," he added.
Efforts are on to nab the culprits, said the OC.
Meanwhile, locals alleged that Amal was killed by drug dealers.
Man stabbed dead ‘by wife’ in Kushtia
A 37-year-old man was stabbed to death allegedly by his wife following a family feud in Kushtia town early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Md Sabbir, a resident of the town.
At one stage of altercation, Sabbir’s second wife Rozina Khatun stabbed him at their home in Milpara area around 2am and fled the scene, said Delwar Hossain Khan, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kushtia Model police station quoting witnesses.
He was rushed to Kushtia General Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries around 7am.
Sabbir and Rozina got married a month ago, he added.
The body has been kept at the hospital morgue. And efforts are on to arrest Rozina, said the OC.
BGB man stabbed to death in Magura
A clash between two groups in Magura’s Sreepur upazila on Tuesday night left one person dead and several others injured.
The victim was identified as Rashedul Islam, 55, son of Kawsar Mollah of Hogoldanga village. He was a member of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB).
However, the identities of the injured are yet to be ascertained.

Shukdev Roy, officer-in-charge of Sreepur police station, said supporters of Hannan Mollah and Paban Mollah of Kajli village had long been at loggerheads over voting for a UP member candidate in the last elections.
As a sequel to their long rivalry, followers of Paban Mollah attacked members of Hannan Mollah's group with sharp weapons around 8.30pm, leaving them injured.
They were rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital where doctors declared Rashedul dead on arrival.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
A case was filed with Sreepur police, said the OC, adding that additional police forces have been deployed in the area to avert further trouble.
Businessman stabbed to death in capital's Uttara
A 44-year-old businessman was allegedly stabbed to death by a mugger in the capital's Uttara area in the early hours of Friday, police said.The deceased was identified as M Sharif Ullah, hailed from Madhupur village of Ramganj upazila of Lakshmipur. He used to live with his wife and two sons in the Deora area in Tongi West Police Station of Gazipur.Police arrested the mugger named Abdus Samad, 38, from the spot of the crime, said Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge (OC) of Uttara West police station.

Man stabbed to death in Chattogram
A 40-year-old man was stabbed to death in the EPZ area of port city Chattogram Saturday night.
The deceased was identified as Abdul Rahim Bachan of Labour Colony under EPZ Police Station.
Locals said Bachan and another Tawsif, neighbours of the colony, locked into an altercation over the family feud on Saturday evening and at one stage of the brawl Bachan slapped Tawsif’s sister.

Tawsif’s paternal cousin Rony, who also resides in the same colony, allegedly stabbed Bachan with a knife after a heated-altercation between them over the matter in front of the colony around 9:30pm, they narrated.
The incident left Bachan critically injured and rushed to Chattogram Medical College hospital where physicians pronounced him dead.
Kabir Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of EPZ Police Station, said they were looking into the incident and trying to detain the accused.
Youth stabbed to death in Keraniganj
An 18-year-old youth was stabbed to death allegedly by a group of men following an argument over jumping a queue at an NID centre in Dhaka's Keraniganj upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Murad, son of Mojibur Rahman.
Shahabuddin Kabir, additional SP of Keraniganj Police, said Murad, along with his friend Nafi, went to Nayabazar Degree College at Narandi intersection to get a photo clicked for his NID.

An argument broke out between Murad and a group of young men, led by Shaheb Ali of Shilaritola village, over jumping the queue at the college. The men had also come there for the same purpose.
And when Murad was returning to his home, Shaheb and others stabbed Murad multiple times, leaving him injured. Murad’s friend Nafi also sustained injuries trying to save him, the additional SP said.
Murad died on the way to a local hospital while Nafi has been admitted to Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
“No complaint has been lodged in connection with the murder,” said Kabir.
Youth stabbed to death in Dhaka's Sutrapur
A youth was stabbed to death in the city's Sutrapur early Monday.
The deceased was identified as Javed Ali, 36, an electrician. He was residing at a rented house with his family members in the Dholaikhal Rokanpur area under the Sutrapur police station.
The incident took place at the Dholaikhal Rukunpur area just after midnight on Sunday, technically early Monday.
Mohammad Azim, the deceased's uncle, said his nephew was an electrician. He didn't know why his nephew was stabbed and who was involved in this incident.

"But my nephew told me in a bloody state that a young man named Shawon stabbed him and ran away. He disclosed the name to me as I tried to rescue him in critical condition and take him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH)," he added.
After being taken to the emergency department of the hospital, the doctor on duty declared him dead around 1:15 AM.
DMCH police camp in charge Inspector Md. Bachchu Mia said the body has been kept at DMCH morgue for post-mortem.
Housewife stabbed dead in Ctg
A 54-year-old woman has been stabbed to death allegedly by her husband at Chandnaish upazila in Chattogram.
The deceased was identified as Rezia Begum, wife of rickshaw puller Abdus Sattar of the upazila.

Locals said the couple had an altercation at their home in West Elahabad area on Saturday evening. At one stage, Abdus Sattar stabbed his wife with a sharp weapon and fled the scene.
Later, Rezia was admitted to Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) where she succumbed to her injuries early Sunday, said Md Anwar Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chandnaish police station.

Efforts are on to arrest the husband, he added.
Besides, family members of the deceased are being interrogated, the OC added.
4 ‘muggers’ held over killing dentist in city
Dhaka, Mar 30 (UNB)—Police on Wednesday arrested four suspected muggers from the city’s Mirpur area in connection with the murder of a dentist at Shewrapara in the capital.
The arrestees were Raihan Sohel alias Apan, 27, Rasel Hossain Hawlader, 25, Ariyan Khan Ridoy, 23, and Solaiman, 23.
Dentist Ahmed Mahi Bulbul was stabbed to death by a professional mugging gang, said AKM Hafiz Akhter, additional commissioner (detectives) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police at a press briefing.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees confessed that they are professional muggers.
Five people including the four arrestees gathered on Begum Rokeya Sarani Road to rob the dentist coming on an auto-rickshaw, according to the detectives.

On Sunday, when the auto-rickshaw carrying Bulbul reached Kazipara Begum Rokeya Sarani Road in front of Navana Showroom, the five muggers intercepted the vehicle and attempted to snatch his valuables, said the official.
At one point, the muggers stabbed the doctor as he resisted the mugging.
Later, he was rushed to Al-Helal Hospital first and then to Suhrawardi Medical College and Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Police also recovered cash Tk 12,000 and a mobile phone set from his possession.
Ahmed Mahi Bulbul used to work in a clinic at Moghbazar. He was known as ‘Gariber Doctor’ (The doctor of the poor) in his locality.
An operation is on to arrest the other member of the gang, said AKM Hafiz Akhter.
