BGB make good start to Victory Day Handball
Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) made a good start to the Victory Day Handball (Men's and Women's) Tournament 2022, beating Team Handball Dhaka by 38-11 goals in the men's group Monday.
At the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the capital, BGB led the first half 19-4.

In the morning, actor Abul Hayat inaugurated the competition at a ceremony as the chief guest, with Bangladesh Handball Federation General Secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor in the chair.
In the day's other men's group match, Bangladesh Ansar and VDP beat Bangladesh Police Handball Club 38-30 after leading the first half 15-13 at the same venue in the afternoon.
In the women's group, Ansar and VDP defeated Badalgachhi Handball Association 23-15 after dominating the first session 16-8 at the same venue.
27th School Handball begins
The Polar Ice Cream 27th School Handball (Boys and Girls) Tournament 2022 began Thursday at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium.
Habibur Rahman, deputy inspector general of police (Dhaka Range), inaugurated the competition.

Shah Masud Imam, CEO of Polar Ice Cream, was present as a special guest at the function, chaired by Handball Federation General Secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor.
In the inaugural match (boys' group), Bangladesh International School beat Ideal School and College 14-11 after leading the first half 7-6.
Victory Day Handball advance to final stage
The Walton Victory Day Men’s and Women’s Handball Tournaments advanced to the finals at the Shaheed Capt (Retd) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium here on Thursday.
Both the finals will be held on Saturday (Dec 25) morning at the same venue.
Bangladesh Ansar & VDP will play Jamalpur Sports Academy in the Women’s final at 10 am while Bangladesh Ansar & VDP will face Boarder Guard Bangladesh in the men’s final at 11:30 am on Saturday at the same venue.

In the day’s men’s first semifinal, Bangladesh Ansar & VDP defeated Tetulia Upazila Sports Association of Panchagarh by 36-17 goal after leading the first half by 13-11 goal.
In the day’s 2nd semifinal, Jamalpur Sports Academy eliminated Bangladesh Police Handball Club by 27-21 goal after dominating the first half by 13-9 goal.

Youth Handball: Panchagarh emerge champions beating Naogoan
Panchagarh clinched the Walton 2nd National Youth U-17 Girls' Handball title, beating Naogaon 27-15 in the final at the Shaheed (Capt) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium Sunday.
The winners dominated the first half 13-8. Merry and Sanjida scored six goals each for the champions. Suborna and Sumi pulled back five goals each for the runners-up.
Sanjida of Panchagarh was named the best player of the tournament.

Earlier in the day, Jamalpur beat Dhaka 17-15 in the third-place decider.
Principal Hamida Ali, renowned sports organiser and former vice-president of the Bangladesh Handball Federation, was the chief guest in the day's final and distributed the trophies.
Youth Handball: Dhaka emerge champions beating Bandarban by 37-29 goal
Dhaka District clinched Walton 2nd National Youth (Under-17) Boys Handball title beating Bandarban District by 37-29 goal in the final at the Shahid Capt (Retd) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium here on Wednesday.
The winners led the first half by 19-15 goal.
Shahad Islam of Dhaka scored the match highest 11 goals and was adjuded the best player of the tournament while Boypa Ban of Bandarban netted 10 goals.

Chapainawabganj District finished 3rd in the meet beating Jamalpur District by 31-28 goal in the 3rd place deciding match at the same venue Wednesday morning.
Deputy Secretary General of Bangladesh Olympics Association (BOA) and General Secretary of Bangladesh Volleyball Federation Ashiqur Rahman Miku was the chief guest in the final and later he distributed the prizes.
National Youth Handball: Bandarban to play Dhaka in final on Wednesday
Bandarban District and Dhaka District reached the final of the 12-team Walton 2nd National Youth U-17 (Boys and Girls)) Handball Tournament eliminating their rivals in the semifinals at the Shaheed (Capt) M Monsur Ali National Handball Stadium here on Tuesday.
The two teams will play the final on Wednesday (Sept 22) at 10:30 am at the same venue.
Executive Director of the meet’s sponsor Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar will be the chief guest in the final and later he will distribute the prizes.
In the day’s semifinals, Bandarban eliminated Jamalpur District by 36-20 goals (first half 19-11) while Dhaka District eliminated Chapainawabganj District by 19-16 goals (first half 9-7) in the afternoon.

Earlier in the day’s preliminary round matches, Bandarban beat Bagerhat by 31-14 goals; Dhaka drew 25-25 with Kushtia ; Chapainawabganj defeated Narayanganj by 22-11 goals while Panchagarh beat Chattagram by 24-12 goals.
Twelve teams are participating in the boys section scheduled for Sept 20-22 while eight teams will participate in the girls section from Sept 24-26.

Handball Federation honour six persons with MA Hamid Awards
Bangladesh Handball Federation (BHF) honoured six handball personalities--two players, two organisers, one trainer and one referee --with "M A Hamid Honourary Awards '21" at a function at National Handball Stadium in the capital Monday evening.
Handball Federation introduced the awards, named after its founding and long serving late President Col (Retd) MA Hamid to honour the famed handball players and dedicated officials considering their performances.
Senior Secretary to the Ministry of Youth and Sports M Akhter Hossain was the chief guest at the awards distribution ceremony and handed over the awards Monday evening.
BHF General Secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor, Executive Director of Walton Group FM Iqbal Bin Anwar and wife of MA Hamid International Chess player Rani Hamid were also present the function, chaired BHF vice president Hasanullah Khan Rana.
Recipients of the awards are: Hosne Ara Khan, Farida Akhter Begum (Organiser), Jahanara Begum, Mong Sha Pru (Player), M Nazir Akhter (Trainer) and M Motiur Rahman (Referee).

The Walton Independence Day (Men's and Women's) Handball Tournament, organised by Bangladesh Handball Federation, on the occasion of birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, begins on Sunday (Mar 14) at Shaheed (Capt) M Monsur Ali National Handball Stadium here.
