Walton brings new Takyon e-bike
Walton has launched a new model of Takyon electric bike at an affordable price.
The eco-friendly Takyon Leo e-bike comes in three versions which can run for 40-80 kilometres on a single charge.
ICT Division Director General Md Mostafa Kamal recently launched the TAKYON Leo e-bike at Walton headquarters in Chandra of Gazipur.
Walton e-bike is the first in the segment in Bangladesh that got the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority's (BRTA) approval, the company said.
Currently, four versions of two models of Walton e-bikes are available in the market. With its portable charger, the e-bike can be charged from the 220-volt power line used in the residence.
Takyon Leo has three versions with 12AH, 20AH and 23AH batteries. The price of the 12Ah version is Tk49,850, and it can run for 40 kilometres on a single charge.
The 20Ah version can provide 70-kilometre mileage and is selling for Tk56,850. The 23Ah version is priced at Tk59,850 and can run for 80 kilometres on a single charge.
Also, Takyon 1.00 e-bike, available in red, blue and grey colours, is priced at Tk127,750.

DITF 2023: Walton scoops up 'Best Innovation,' 'Best Electronics Stall' awards
The 27th edition of the month-long Dhaka International Trade Fair (DITF) drew to a close Tuesday.
Walton won the "Best Innovation" and the "Best Electronics Stall" awards at the DITF.
The awards were handed over to Walton representatives at the concluding ceremony of the DITF at the Bangabandhu Bangladesh-China Friendship Exhibition Center in Purbachal yesterday.
Textiles and Jute Minister Golam Dastagir Gazi attended the function as the chief guest. Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries Senior Vice-President Mostofa Azad Chowdhury Babu were also present.
Walton deputy managing directors Eva Rizwana Nilu and Md Humayun Kabir received the crests and certificates.
Forty-seven organisations were awarded in 14 categories at the 27th DITF.
The fair's organisers – the commerce ministry and the Export Promotion Bureau – introduced the innovation award at this year's DITF for the first time.

Challengers Summit 2023 held at Walton headquarters in Gazipur
The Challengers Summit 2023 organised by Walton Plaza was recently held at Walton Hi-Tech Industries headquarters in Gazipur's Chandra.
More than 1500 Walton Plaza managers and assistant managers, and officials from across the country participated in the day-long summit.

Marcel 2nd Division Chess League prizes distributed
Prizes of the Marcel 2nd Division Chess League, organised by the Bangladesh Chess Federation and sponsored by Walton, were distributed at the hall room of the Bangladesh Chess Federation Saturday.
Walton Senior Executive Director FM Iqbal Bin Anwar (Dawn) distributed prizes among the winners as the chief guest. Syed Shahab Uddin, general secretary of the Bangladesh Chess Federation, was also present.

The champions – Sports Bangla team of Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan, India's Ankit Roy, Feroz Ahmed, India's Avigyan Ghosh, Nurul Islam Emon and Mohammad Arhaan – received prize money of Tk25,000 along with the trophy and medals.
Runners-up Dipali Memorial Chess Club (1) got prize money of Tk15,000, and second runners-up Agrani Bank Chess Team received prize money of Tk10,000.
Sports Bangla and Dipali Memorial earned the right to play in the next first division chess league.
A record 52 teams participated in the just concluded nine-round Swiss-league basis competition.
Walton showcases advanced, sustainable IoT smart products at DITF 2023
Walton is showcasing eco-friendly, advanced and sustainable internet of things (IoT) smart products, including smart refrigerators, air conditioners, televisions, home and kitchen appliances, silent and durable robust compressors; laptops and mobile phones with the latest features, e-bikes, elevators and other artificial intelligence (AI)-based household products.
Walton's 'Inverna (Extreme Saver)' series AC, which received a 5.5-star energy rating from Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution, is on display at the fair, the company said.
This AC has frost clean, air plasma, three-in-one converter technology, smart control and various advanced technologies.
At Walton Pavilion, visitors can see the electricity consumption of Walton Inverna ACs.
Walton AC Research and Innovation Department head Ariful Islam said: "The input power of the Inverna (Extreme Saver) series 1 ton AC is 690 watts. That means a maximum of 690 watts of electricity will be required to run this AC."
"If the user runs this AC in Eco mode for eight hours every day, it will consume only 106.8 units of electricity per month. According to the residential electricity rate, the bill will be Tk526 for the whole month and Tk2.19 per hour."

CES 2023 draws to close
World's largest and most influential tech event Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023 in the US drew to a close recently.
The four-day exhibition took place from January 5 to 8 at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
CES is a global platform where the tech giants exhibit the latest innovation in consumer technology, the automotive industry and digital healthcare.
AI, smart health, driverless cars, smart homes and the metaverse had been the centre of attractions for visitors, entrepreneurs and suppliers of technology products at this year's CES.
The metaverse was a big theme at CES 2023. Many companies had unveiled their latest offerings in virtual reality and augmented reality. There were many unusual inventions on display, from a speech privacy mask to smart golfing tools, a smart punching bag cover and even electric inline skates.
One start-up, OVR Technology, presented a headset that allows users to smell in the metaverse. The device could have applications beyond gaming, for example in health and wellness.
A part of the show floor had been dedicated to Web3 technology.
Also, Microsoft and the carmaker Stellantis teamed up to create a showroom in the metaverse.
At this year's CES, Sony exhibited a prototype of a new electric car built with Honda. The vehicle, Afeela, has self-driving capabilities and a LED screen on the front of the bonnet.
In addition, South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai's stall had seen a large crowd of visitors for its driverless car.
This year Walton became the first Bangladeshi company to join the world's mega tech event.
Focusing on people's smart living, food and health safety, and environmental protection, the company showcased a wide range of green and sustainable smart home and tech products with AI technologies at the CES. The products include a smart fridge, TV and educational display, air conditioner; washing machine, table, and LED light.
At the CES, Walton finalised negotiations with many business houses of the US, Canada, Mexico, France, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Australia, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Azerbaijan, the UAE, Liberia, Oman, Jordan, and Senegal, according to a media statement.
Also, it finalised a deal with a distributor in Canada's Ontario to supply hotel mode solutions.

Electronics and tech giant Walton has drawn the attention of the global buyers and suppliers of the consumer technology at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2023, which drew to a close January 8.
At least, 150 businesses showed keen interest on importing Walton products from Bangladesh, said a press release.
Walton's Pavilion 17928 at CES was beautifully decorated with wide ranges of sustainable AI based innovative smart products. Walton's smart refrigerators, air conditioners, televisions, home and kitchen appliances, most silence and durable robust compressors, interactive display or educational board, laptops and smartphones with advanced features attracted the CES attendees.

Of the four-day long CES 2023, a good number of visitors, entrepreneurs and businessmen from different countries of the world thronged Walton Pavilion, specially huge crowds were seen in the last two days- Saturday and Sunday.
Among the visitors and potential buyers were the United States, Canada, Mexico, France, Peru, Brazil, Chile, Australia, Trinidad and Tobago, Jamaica, Azerbaijan, United Arab Emirates, Liberia, Oman, Jordan, and Senegal. Walton finalized bilateral business negotiations with many business houses of those countries.

Walton brings new CiNEd gaming monitors
Walton has launched two new CiNEd gaming monitors with IPS panels. These monitors can be used for different purposes, including gaming and graphic designs.
Touhidur Rahman Raad, chief business officer of Walton Digi-Tech Industries, said: "Modelled as WD27GI06 and WD27GI07, the new gaming monitors feature 27-inch QHD IPS LED-backlit display with 2560 and 1440 pixel resolution and frameless design on three sides."
