Wastes of sacrificial animals to be removed from 2:00pm: Taposh
Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh said on Sunday the corporation staff will start removing wastes of sacrificial animals from city streets from 2:00pm.
Taposh was speaking to journalists after attending the main Eid prayer at the National Eidgah premises in Dhaka.
“I’m requesting everyone to maintain hygiene and proper processes during sacrificing animals on this Eid. We, both the mayors of Dhaka city, will begin our job of cleaning the city from 2:00pm onwards,” said Taposh.
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam asked the people of Dhaka city to help in managing the wastes.
“Please, put your wastes at a designated place. Our cleaners will collect it from there. I hope it won’t take much to remove the wastes if we can get everyone’s help,” said Atiqul.

Sacrificial animal waste to be removed within 12 hrs: Atiqul
The waste of sacrificial animals will be removed from the streets of Dhaka city within 12 hours, said Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Atiqul Islam on Tuesday.
“The city corporation workers are cleaning waste every day and I think 12 hours are enough to remove waste of sacrificial animals,” he said while talking to reporters after a meeting in the city’s Gulshan area.
"We have enough manpower and the Eid vacation of the staff and employees has been cancelled for removing waste soon", he said.
Mentioning that there are some designated places in the city to sacrifice animals, Atiqul urged people to assist them to clean the city within 12 hours.
He also directed the councilors and department concerned to ensure health guidelines in the cattle market strictly. ‘No one will be allowed to enter the cattle market without a mask and all should follow health guidelines.”
Besides, digital payment booths have been installed in six cattle markets with 24-hour service under DNCC in a bid to transfer money easily, he said.
Eid-ul-Azha: Digital Haat for sacrificial animals launched
The government has launched "Digital Haat", a digital marketplace for consumers to buy sacrificial animals for the third time.This year, the Ministry of Commerce, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), Bangladesh Dairy Farm Association (BDFA), a2i, Ekshop and e-Cab are conducting a joint venture to operate the online platform.Fisheries and Livestock Minister SM Rezaul Karim was the chief guest while State Minister for ICT Junaid Ahmed Palak presided over the function which was conducted virtually on Sunday.Inaugurating the platform, Fisheries and Livestock Minister said, "If you don't like your animals after purchasing from digital haat, you can return the animals. No one has to become a victim of fraud."He also said those who used to laugh at the digital system are now taking advantage of Digital Bangladesh.Digital Haat will also provide smart cards and other apps services for financial transactions.The development of digital infrastructure of the government has made it possible to improve the quality of today's Digital Bangladesh and other digital services, said State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak at the inauguration programme.Currently the digital network has expanded at the union level. Four digital technologies have been developed to create digital ecosystems to eliminate harassment and corruption by ensuring transparency and accountability of transactions. The implementation of these technologies will further increase discipline and confidence in the e-commerce sector, the minister hopes.After the inauguration of Digital Haat-2022, he bought a sacrificial animal from the Haat and it was later donated to Manabseva, an e-cab-run organization, for distribution among the distressed people in the flood-hit areas of Sylhet.More than one crore of sacrificial animals were sold across the country every year.In order to reduce the crowds and suffering, in 2020, for the first time, the sale of sacrificial animals was started on the online platform 'Digital Pashur Hat' (digitalhaat.net).Through this market, 26,000 animals were sold in 2020 and 3,87,00 in 2021.This year, a total of 4,407 eid cattle markets will be set up where everyone must follow Covid health guidelines.
DNCC holding taxes can be paid through Tap
Mobile financial services provider Trust Axiata Pay (Tap) has introduced a new service that will allow its users to pay holding taxes.
Tap users can now pay the holding taxes of Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).
DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam and Tap CEO Dewan Nazmul Hasan recently signed an agreement in this regard.

Atiqul said: "The cashless transaction will ensure transparency and accountability. Through this automation, people can now receive necessary services at home while the exploitative influence of the middlemen would shrink at the same time."
Nazmul said, "We are working relentlessly to offer the best service, making the best use of technology which consequently brings this new service for the DNCC inhabitants."
DNCC holds street march to aware people against mosquitoes
The Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) will try its best to eradicate mosquitoes as dengue could be more serious this time compared to last year, said its mayor on Wednesday.
"Dengue can be more serious this time compared to last year. We will do what needs to be done taking along my councilors and everyone in the city corporation. We will conduct campaign from ward to ward, " DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam said responding to a question while participating in an Anti-Aedes and Anti-Dengue Citizen Awareness street rally in the city's Uttara.
Addressing the rally, the mayor announced a 10-day mosquito eradication drive under the DNCC area.
He warned that to legal action will be taken If Aedes larvae are found in any place.
The mayor said action would be taken against anyone responsible in mosquito breeding, adding that if Aedes larvae are found in any establishment of government, private or semi-government, action will be taken against them. They will be fined, he added.

The DNCC has already launched a campaign in the vulnerable wards to eradicate Aedes mosquito, a carrier of dengue. The 10-day mosquito (dengue and Aedes) eradication drives would run from May 17 to 26, the mayor said.
He Instructed the Mosquito Department to cancel all holidays during the 10-day mosquito eradicate programme.

7 parks, playgrounds opened for city dwellers
Seven parks and playgrounds were opened for city dwellers in Dhaka North City Corporation(DNCC) area on Saturday.
DNCC Mayor Atiqul inaugurated the parks in Shyamoly area in the capital at a programme.
Addressing the event, Atiqul Islam said, “These parks and playgrounds are New Year’s gift for the city dwellers and you need to take care of them now as they are your assets.”
The seven parks and playgrounds are: Shyamoli Park, Iqbal Road Park, Humayun Road Park, Banani Block-C Park, Baridhara Park, Banani Block-F Park, Rayer Bazar Baishakhi Playground.
Atiqul wants ward councillors to have weekly meeting
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam on Monday directed the Ward Councillors to hold a coordination meeting at least once a week to make the mosquito eradication and sanitation activities more dynamic and effective.
"We have come to perform responsibilities taking the mandate of the people. It is our responsibility to ensure the protection of the people. This responsibility must not be neglected in any way," he said while addressing the 11th corporation meeting of the 2nd council of DNCC at Nagar Bhaban of Gulshan-2 in the capital on Monday morning.

The DNCC Mayor also instructed the Ward Councillors not to travel abroad without their permission.
At the meeting, considering the helplessness of the family of the deceased Md. Ahsan Kabir Khan who died in the accident, and also for continuation educational activities of children till they earn Masters or equivalent degree, it decided to provide Tk 25,000 each month from the fund of the DNCC.
The corporation meeting was attended by all the councilors and senior officials of DNCC including Md. Selim Reza, Chief Executive Officer of DNCC.

DNCC mayor, family contract Covid again
Dhaka North City Corporation Mayor Md Atiqul Islam along with his family have tested positive for Covid-19 for the second time.
The mayor underwent an RT-PCR test on Tuesday noon which came out positive, said a statement of DNCC.

Atiqul and his family are currently in home isolation and will be admitted to hospital on doctor's advice if needed, the statement added.
The mayor and his family were infected by Covid for the first time in early 2020.
DNCC to recover illegally occupied roads
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) is collecting information about the illegally occupied streets under the corporation to recover them for widening.
DNCC Mayor Md Atiqul Islam directed the ward councillors to gather the information at a virtual board meeting recently.

Atiqul expressed concern over the grabbing of some city streets allegedly by owners of buildings deviating from RAJUK's design.
DNCC has decided to recover those roads and ensure their width according to the actual design, he said.

After the list is prepared, the councillors of the concerned wards in collaboration with the property department of the DNCC will ensure the widening of the roads by removing illegal occupants, the mayor added.
