All rivers in Kurigram flowing above danger mark
After a recession for a few days, all the rivers in Kurigram district started flowing beyond the danger signal on Sunday morning.

In Sunamganj, The Surma and the Jadukata rivers are flowing above the danger level on Saturday.
The Surma River was flowing 46cm above the danger level at 9am while Jadukata River was flowing 57cm above the danger level.

Water level of the Surma River was 3 centimeters above the danger level at Shologhar point on Friday afternoon due to incessant rain for the previous few hours.

Brahmaputra and Dharla rivers flowed above the danger level in Kurigram on Friday, inundating char areas.
Two children drown in Moulvibazar
Two children drowned while taking bath in a canal at Kadamhata village of Rajnagar upazila in Moulvibazar on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Shamima Aktar, 9, daughter of Delwar Hossain and her cousin Sanjida Aktar, 8, daughter of Sanu Mia.
They went to a canal of local Water Development Board for taking bath around 12:30pm when they drowned, said Officer-in-Charge of Rajnagar Police Station Abul Hasim.
Later, their bodies were found floating in the canal, he said.
They were taken to the Sadar Hospital where the doctor declared them dead, OC said.

21-km embankment in Koyra upazila stands threatened
An unusual tidal surge in the Kabodak River right after the winter season is threatening a huge portion of the embankment in Koyra Upazila, causing sleepless nights to the residents of five unions.
Villagers say they fear a 21-km stretch of 154-km 13-14/1 and 13-14/2 No Polder of Water Development Board's embankment, surrounding five unions of the upazila, can collapse anytime and the areas might be flooded.
The risky areas are No-2 Koyra Sluicegate area, Ghatakhali, Harinkhola, Gobra, Madinabad Launch Ghat, No-4 Koyra and No-6 Koyra in Koyra Sadar union, Dashhalia, Loka and Mathbari of Moharajpur union, Tetultolar Char, Gilabari, Sheikh Sarderpur and Noyani of Moheshwaripur union, Kathkata, Gazipara, Kashirhat, Gabbunia, Gatirgheri and Shakbaria of Uttar Bedkashi union, and Matiabhanga, Jorsing, Mederchar and Angtihara areas of Dakhshin Bedkashi union.
GM Shamsur Rahman, chairman of Dakhshin Bedkashi union, said water level increases here at the end of winter season. “Local residents are passing days amid panic as risky portions of the embankment can collapse any time.”
“The embankment will collapse and the whole area will be inundated if it is not repaired before monsoon,” he added.
