More rain likely across Bangladesh over 24 hours: BMD's weather forecast
More rain is likely across the country over 24 hours, starting from 9 am today (July 02, 2023), as monsoon is active, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted.
“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at most places in Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; and at many places in Khulna, Dhaka, Barishal and Chattogram divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country,” said the Met Office.

Rainfall may also increase in the next 72 hours, it reads.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged in the country.
Monsoon is active over the northern part, fairly active elsewhere in Bangladesh, and moderate over north Bay, the weather report says.

The weather office recorded the highest 124 mm rainfall in Netrokona in 24 hours till 6 am today.
The mercury reached 35.5 degree Celsius – the highest – in Jashore, while the minimum temperature was recorded at 23.5 degree in Tangail.

BMD predicts rain in Dhaka, other divisions
Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) has predicted rain or thundershowers in different parts of the country, including Dhaka, over 24 hours — starting from 9 am today (June 26, 2023).
"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at most places over Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka and Mymensingh divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over southern part of the country," the Met Office said.
The highest, 67 mm, rainfall was recorded in Barishal district in the country in 24 hours till 6 am on Monday.

The country may witness more rain over the next 72 hours, BMD also said.
Meanwhile, the low-pressure area over northwest Bay and adjoining Odisha-West Bengal coasts in India now lies over north Odisha and adjoining area.

"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at most places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions; at many places in Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions; and moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places in Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions," the Met Office said.
The highest 125 mm rainfall was recorded in Sylhet district in the country in 24 hours till 6 am on Tuesday.

Rain may continue across the country over the next 72 hours, BMD also said.
Meanwhile, a trough of westerly low lies over India's West Bengal to north Bay across the southern part of Bangladesh. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over north Bay, the BMD weather bulletin reads.
Day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged across the country, it added. The country’s highest temperature was recorded at 35.3 degree Celsius on Monday in Rajshahi.

Bangladesh Metrological Department predicted rains across the country including Dhaka in 24 hours commencing 9 am on Monday (June 19, 2023).
“Light to moderate rain/thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at most places inRangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at many places in Rajshahi, Chattogram and Dhaka divisions and at a few places in Khulna & Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram & Sylhet divisions, “ said a Met office bulletin.

“Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind are likely to occur at many places in Rangpur, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions; at a few places in Dhaka and Chattogram divisions; and at one or two places in Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,” it said.
A mild heatwave is sweeping over Khulna division and the districts of Gopalgonj, Rajshahi, and Pabna, and it may continue.

Day temperature may fall by (1-2)°C over Chattogram division and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere over the country. Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged.
The country’s highest temperature was recorded at 40.5 degrees Celsius on Tuesday (June 6, 2023) in Syedpur and Dinajpur and the lowest temperature was recorded on Wednesday at 23.3 degrees Celsius in Bandarban.
Heatwave likely to continue for 5 to 6 days: Met office
The prevailing mild, moderate and severe heatwave may continue for five to six days across the country, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.
Due to excessive moister incursion, the discomfort may continue, it said.
“A severe heatwave is sweeping Rajshahi and Pabna and it is likely to continue. Besides, a mild to moderate heat wave is lashing Dhaka, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Sylhet, Khulna and Barishal divisions and parts of Rajshahi division and the regions of Chattogram, Rangamati, Cumilla, Chandpur, Noakhali and Bandarban,” according to the morning bulletin of Met office.

Besides, rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely at one or two places over Chattogram and Sylhet divisions. The weather may remain mainly dry with a temporary partly cloudy sky elsewhere over the country, it added.
Day temperature may remain nearly unchanged and night temperature may rise slightly over the country, as per the bulletin.

The weather office recorded the highest rainfall of 14mm in Rangamati in 24 hours till 6 am on Tuesday (June 6, 2023).
The highest temperature was recorded at 40.7 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi on Monday, while the lowest temperature was recorded at 23.2 degrees in Bandarban on Tuesday. In the capital the highest temperature was 38.6 degree Celsius on Monday (June 5, 2023).

No respite from heat wave for 4/5 days
The mild to moderate heat wave sweeping parts of the country is likely to continue for next four to five days, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday (June 01, 2023).
“Mild to moderate heat wave is sweeping over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal and Sylhet divisions and Chattogram, Rangamati, Cumilla, Chandpur, Noakhali & Feni districts and it may continue,” said a bulletin of BMD.
Weather may remain mainly dry with the temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, having chances of light rain or thundershowers at one or two places over Dhaka, Barishal, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions, it said.

Day temperature may rise slightly in Rangpur, Rajshahi and Khulna divisions and it may remain nearly unchanged elsewhere the country.
Night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country in 24 hours starting from 9 am on Thursday.
The lowest temperature in the country was recorded at 24 degrees Celsius in Rangamati and Bandarban on Thursday and the highest temperature was recorded at 40 degrees Celsius in Syedpur on Wednesday.

Mild heat wave to continue for next 4-5 days: BMD
The mild to moderate heat wave sweeping the country is likely to continue for the next four to five days, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Wednesday.
“Weather may remain mainly dry with the temporary partly cloudy sky over the country, having chances of light rain/thundershowers at one or two places over Chattogram division,” said the daily weather bulletin of BMD.
Day and night temperatures may rise slightly over the country. Southwest monsoon may advance up to Teknaf coast, in 24 hours, starting from 9 am on Tuesday.
The lowest temperature in the country was recorded at 23.3 degrees Celsius in Tetulia upazila of Panchgarh district on Wednesday and the highest temperature was recorded at 38.6 degrees Celsius in Rajshahi district on Tuesday.
