11-yr-old’s body found in canal in Jhalakathi
The blood-stained body of an 11-year-old boy was found in a canal near his home in Jhalakathi’s Rajapur upazila on Tuesday evening.
The deceased, Shahriar Islam Towhid, 11, was a fourth grader and son of Milon Howlader.

His father Milon said Towhid went missing while he was on his way back home from school and later his body carrying several injury marks was found floating in the canal.
Towhid was taken to a hospital but the doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
He demanded justice for the killing of his son.

Firoz Kamal, officer-in-charge of Rajapur police station, said the boy’s body was found in Tafalbari canal and it has been kept in the morgue for an autopsy.
Police will take necessary legal actions, he added.

A 10-year-old boy died on Wednesday after a sand-laden truck ran him over in Kishoreganj.
The incident happened in the Notun Bazar area of the Itna union of Itna upazila around 11:00 am on Wednesday.

Itna Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Zakir Rabbani, confirmed the matter.
The deceased was identified as Sajoy Ravidas of Rishipara village.
According to sources, Sajoy died on the spot after the truck hit him. Police seized the truck, but the driver fled the scene.

The body was sent to Kishoreganj Modern Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy, said the OC.
Man to die for killing wife in Natore
A Natore tribunal on Wednesday convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing his wife in 2018.
The court also fined Tk 30,000 to the condemned convict Rony Molla, 33, of Purulia village in Gurudaspur upazila, and asked him to provide the money to his mother-in-law.

Natore Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Abdur Rahim handed down the punishment.
According to the prosecution, the convict Rony used to torture his wife Rina Khatun, 20, for Tk 2 lakh as dowry since their marriage.
On September 15, 2018, Rony beat Rina up mercilessly and stabbed her with a sharp weapon over the issue.
Later, she died on the way to the local hospital.

Mafiz Uddin, father of Rina, filed a case in this connection.
On November 13, 2018, police submitted charge sheet against Rony.
9-yr-old drowns, another missing in C'nawabganj
A nine-year-old boy drowned and one went missing while taking bath in the Mahananda River in Chapainawabganj Sadar upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Mahmudullah of Kazipara's Notun Para Ghat area.
The missing boy, Sifat (13), is the son of Hanif from the same locality.

Sazzad Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said they went down in the Mahananda River to take a bath at a ghat around 1pm.

Saudi expat’s wife, two daughters found dead in Kishoreganj
A 42-year-old woman and her two daughters were found dead at a house at Basur Char village in Hossainpur upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as Taslima, wife of a Bangladeshi expatriate in Saudi Arabia, Manjil Mia and her two daughters Mohona, 11 and Bonnya, 7.
Quoting local people, police said Manjil Mia went to Saudi Arabia five years ago and since then his wife and her daughters used to live at their house alone.

One of Mohona’s friends, a class V student, went to their house to call Mohona for school but she found the door open.
When she peeped through the door, she found Mohona and her mother and sister lying in a pool of blood.
Hearing the screams of the girl, local people also gathered here and informed police.

Police recovered the body of a woman, hanging from the ceiling of her home, in Jangli area of Natore Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Salma Begum, 30, wife of Saiful and an employee of a nearby molasses factory.

Abul Kalam Azad, sub-inspector of Natore Police Station, said police recovered her body from her house and sent it to Natore Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
The husband of the deceased is in hiding since the incident, he added.

2 killed as covered van rams into two vehicles in Chattogram
Two people were killed and at least four others injured as a covered van crashed into a stationary mini truck and an auto-rickshaw in Sufia Road area of Mirsarai upazila in Chattogram on Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as truck driver Iqbal Hossain, 45, and Mohammad Farid, 42.

Sohel Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Jorarganj Highway Police Station, said the speeding covered van rammed into the two vehicles parked on roadside in Sufia Road area in the morning, leaving two people dead on the spot.
He said the driver of the covered van has been arrested.

The bodies of the deceased are currently at the Upazila Health Complex, he added.
Woman's body found hanging in Chattogram
Police on Monday recovered the body of a housewife hanging from her home on Monday.
The deceased was identified as Fatema Begum, 20, wife of Rabiul Hossain of Mandaritola area of Barabkunda under Sitakunda upazila.

Khurshid Alam, sub-inspector (SI) of Sitakunda Police Station, said that police recovered the body from the Barabkunda union and sent it to the Chattogram Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
"The woman is believed to have committed suicide by hanging herself. The cause of the suicide is not known," he added.
14 arson attacks reported during 48-hour blockade
Fourteen reports of arson attacks were recorded across the country from 6 am Sunday till 6:30 pm Monday, according to the Fire Service and Civil Defence.

Of these, eight arson attacks were reported in Dhaka city, three in Dhaka division (Narayanganj, Savar, Faridpur), one each in Barishal division, Rajshahi division and Rangpur division, said Talha Bin Zashim, station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense Media Cell on Monday.
A total of eleven buses, two human haulers and one truck were burned during this period.
Two motorcyclists killed in head-on collision in Joypurhat
Two motorcycle riders were killed in a head-on collision between two motorcycles at Durgadah Bazar in Joypurhat Sadar upazila around 11am on Monday.
The deceased were identified as Jony Ahmed, son of Mokshed Ali of Chawalpara village in Sadar upazila of Joypurhat, and Samiul, son of Aslam Hossain of Rasulpur village in Badalgachi upazila of Naogaon district.

Joypurhat Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Humayun Kabir said the accident took place when two motorcycles collided head-on at Durgadah Bazar area, leaving the two riders critically injured.
Later, locals rushed them to Joypurhat Modern District Hospital where duty doctor declared Jony dead.
On the other hand, Samiul was shifted to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital in Bogura as his condition deteriorated where he also died while undergoing treatment.
