Police arrested victim’s husband Amirul Islam, son of Fateh Ali of the village, from Dangibazar on Tuesday after a case was filed in this regard.
Habibul Haque Pradhan, officer-in-charge of Baliadangi Police Station, said they arrested Amirul soon after the victim, aged around 40, filed the case.
Police said Amirul, a kabiraj (herbal practitioner), married multiple times and all of his wives left him due to his inhuman torture.
Amirul married the victim 12 years ago and had been torturing her over trifling matter since then.
For the last two years, he had been forcing his wife to have physical relations with a number of people which she refused to comply with.
Following repeated refusal, Amirul got furious and dragged her out of the house on Saturday last.
Later, he beat her up mercilessly and shaved her head. She was also forced to swallow Amirul’s urine.
At one stage, she managed to flee and took shelter in the house of one of her relatives at Phultala village in the upazila, and filed the case.
