Islami Bank Dhaka North holds Shariah compliance webinar
Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) Dhaka North Zone organised the webinar "Compliance of Shari'ah in Banking Operations" Saturday.
Professor Md Kamal Uddin, director of the bank, addressed the webinar as chief guest and Mohammed Monirul Moula, managing director and CEO, as special guest.

TV export to Europe: Walton registers record order
Bangladeshi electronics giant Walton has registered a record TV export order in a day from Europe.
On September 1, the Walton TV department received export orders of $2.44 million from its business partners in Germany, Greece, Croatia, Romania and Poland.
To celebrate the achievement, Walton TV arranged a programme in the capital Thursday.

"We started TV export to Europe in 2019. In the last two years, the export of Walton TV to the European market was about $3 million. But this year, Walton received export orders of $2.44 million in a day," Walton TV Chief Business Officer Engineer Mostafa Nahid Hossain said.
"Walton's TV's standard, picture quality, price, design and advanced features have helped the company rapidly grow its European footprint – with presence in countries like Germany, Austria, Denmark, Slovakia, Spain, Greece, Ireland, Poland, Croatia, Italy and Romania," Walton Business Head in Europe Engineer Tawseef Al Mahmood said.

"The company exceeded its total TV exports to Europe in 2020 in the first five months of this year (January to May)," he added.
IDLC introduces Bangladesh's 1st MFS-based digital savings programme
IDLC Finance has introduced the country's first "Digital Savings Scheme" through which people can enjoy the term-deposit services of the nonbank financial institution through their bKash accounts.
M Jamal Uddin, MD and CEO of IDLC Finance, Kamal Quadir, CEO of bKash, and other senior officials of both the organisations were present at the launching event in the capital.
"This collaboration between IDLC Finance and bKash to connect customers with traditional financial services through mobile financial services (MFS) will serve as an example for the industry. The access to services like monthly savings schemes will also contribute to the improvement of people's living standards and economic development," Jamal said.

"To further encourage the savings trend, IDLC's savings service has been brought to the doorsteps of marginalised people to enhance their efficiency and independence in financial management," Kamal said.
bKash customers can now open monthly savings anytime from anywhere, following a few simple steps.
Users can deposit savings instalments from the bKash app on the scheduled date of each month, and after the savings scheme is matured, customers will receive the money, including profits in their bKash account.

Under this service, bKash customers will now be able to avail of the savings schemes of IDLC in monthly instalments of Tk500, Tk1,000, Tk2,000 and Tk3,000, starting from a minimum period of two years to a maximum of four years.
The savings instalments will be automatically transferred from the bKash account to IDLC on a specific date of each month. The customer will be notified before each due date to keep a sufficient balance in the account.
Customers will be able to see all the important information "Live" from the bKash app, including total savings amount, savings period, and profits. When the savings period expires or matures, the entire money, including profits, will be transferred to the customer's bKash account. If the customer wants to withdraw money at an early stage of the savings period, they can do so through the bKash app.

Terms and conditions and profits of the savings will be followed according to the Bangladesh Bank guidelines.
Only bKash customers who are now registered through e-KYC can use this savings service of IDLC. Gradually all customers will be brought under this service, said a press release Thursday.

IBBL, US-Bangla sign MoU
Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) and US-Bangla Airlines signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on corporate facilities Tuesday.
JQM Habibullah, deputy managing director of the bank, and Md Shafiqul Islam, general manager (sales and marketing) of US-Bangla, signed the agreement.
Mohammed Monirul Moula, managing director and CEO of IBBL, and Abdullah Al Mamun, managing director of US-Bangla, were present at that time.
Under this agreement, Islami Bank's Debit and Khidmah Credit cardholders will enjoy special discounts on air tickets round the year. They will also enjoy three-six months' EMI and POS services from US-Bangla.
Special discount facilities on air tickets for IBBL officials and their family members will continue, according to a press release.

Mr. Noodles brings Korean super spicy noodles
Mr. Noodles has launched new flavoured noodles named "Mr. Noodles Korean Super Spicy."
Pran Managing Director Eleash Mridha launched the product for the local market Saturday through a programme held in the capital.
Mr Noodles Korean Super Spicy has a good combination of chilly and taste of masala; Korean masala and red chilly have been used in the product, according to a media statement.
"We always consider consumer demand and launch new products," Eleash said.
"The maximum retail price of the Korean Super Spicy noodles has been fixed at Tk20 for each 62gm pack. The price of four-piece and eight-piece packs are Tk75 and Tk140. The product will be available at shops and superstores, including Daily Shopping and e-commerce site Othoba.com," AKM Moinul Islam Moin, executive director of Mr. Noodles, said.
Islami Bank signs service agreement with BIDA
Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) and the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) signed an agreement Sunday to provide banking services to investors through an online One Stop Service (OSS).
JQM Habibullah, deputy managing director and company secretary of Islami Bank, and Jibon Krishna Saha Roy, director (OSS) of the BIDA, signed the MoU.
BIDA Executive Chairman Md Sirazul Islam, Director General Nikhil Kumar Das, Executive Member Mohsina Yasmin; IBBL executive vice-presidents Md Mizanur Rahman Bhuiyan and Ahmed Zubayerul Huq were also present.
Under the agreement, Islami Bank will provide various banking services to domestic and foreign investors through an online OSS system, according to a press release.
Runner Motors' largest display centre launched in Tejgaon
Runner Motors recently inaugurated a display centre in Tejgaon with all of its products.
This is the largest display centre of Runner Motors in Bangladesh. The centre was inaugurated in the presence of Runner Group Vice-Chairman Md Mozammel Hossain, Managing Director and CEO Reazul Haque Chowdhury and other senior officials.
Runner Motor's customers will now be able to buy Eicher and Runner's Freedom trucks from one place.

Mozammel Hossain, the vice-chairman of the company, said: "We have launched this new display centre to help customers get an idea about our products."

IBBL signs agreement with InterContinental
Islami Bank Bangladesh Limited (IBBL) and InterContinental Dhaka signed a customer service agreement recently.
JQM Habibullah, deputy managing director of the bank and Rezwan Maruf, operation in charge and director of sales and marketing of Hotel InterContinental, signed the agreement.
Under the deal, IBBL cardholders will get special discounts on the room and venue services of InterContinental.
Mohammed Monirul Moula, managing director and CEO of Islami Bank, was present at that time.
IBBL additional managing directors Muhammad Qaisar Ali and Md Omar Faruk Khan, Deputy Managing Director Taher Ahmed Chowdhury, and executives and officials of both the organisations were also present, according to a press release.
