Bangladesh vs West Indies: T20I series begins Saturday
The three-match T20I series between the hosts West Indies and Bangladesh is all set to begin Saturday at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica.
Bangladesh already reached the island to play the first two matches of the series. The series opener is slated for Saturday. The next match will take place Sunday at the same venue.
The third and last match of the series is scheduled to be played on July 7 at the Providence Stadium, Guyana.
The members of the Bangladesh limited-overs team had to go through a perilous sea journey to reach Dominica. At least three members of the team suffered seasickness and motion sickness during the five-hour ferry journey across the Atlantic.

However, according to the latest update from the Bangladesh Cricket board, all the players are doing well after reaching Dominica.
Before this series, Bangladesh and the West Indies took on each other in 13 matches, with Bangladesh winning five of them. The Tigers played three T20Is in the West Indies but failed to win any of those matches.
The West Indies are at number seven in the ICC T20 Team Rankings and Bangladesh at number eight.
After the three-match T20I series, both teams will lock horns in a three-match ODI series which will be played on July 10, 13, and 16.

Head, Lyon give Australia 10-wicket win over Sri Lanka
Spinners Travis Head and Nathan Lyon took four wickets each to give Australia a 10-wicket win over Sri Lanka in the first session on the third day of the first cricket test on Friday.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka made 212 in its first innings.
Australia was still batting in its first innings when play resumed on the third day on 313-8 and fast bowler Asitha Fernando bowled Pat Cummins (26) with a yorker. Fernando later sent an in-swinger to bowl Mitchell Swepson (1) to end Australia’s first innings at 321, conceding a 109-run first-innings lead.
Sri Lanka made only 113 runs in its second innings leaving Australia five runs to win and David Warner finished the match in four balls.
Head, bowling his part-time off spinners, took four wickets in the space of 17 deliveries to return 4-10. He had not taken a wicket in the 26 previous test matches.
Lyon continued his good form, taking 5-90 in the first innings to return 4-31 in the second.
Sri Lanka started its second innings briskly with the intention of wiping out the deficit quickly on a pitch that helped spin bowlers.

Sri Lankan openers Dimuth Karunaratne and Pathum Nissanka scored 17 runs off the first over bowled by Mitchell Starc, including four boundaries.
But Lyon ended the promising stand at 37 having Karunaratne (23) caught by wicketkeeper Alex Carey. Two runs later leg spinner Mitchell Swepson trapped Nissaka (14) lbw, a decision the batsman reviewed unsuccessfully.
Kusal Mendis and Oshada Fernando, who came into the match as a replacement for Angelo Mathews who had tested positive for COVID-19 earlier in the day, shared 20 runs for the third wicket before Mendis top-edged a sweep for a catch to Swepson at square leg.
Fernando (12) edged Swepson to Steve Smith at slip to leave Sri Lanka 63-4.
Dhananjaya de Silva and Dinesh Chandimal put on 32 runs for the fifth wicket but Head took two wickets in his first over which virtually sealed the result. Head bowled Chandimal (13) with a sharp-turning delivery and two balls later trapped Dhananjaya de Silva lbw.

Cameron Green (77) and Usmal Khawaja (71) made half-centuries for Australia in the first innings. Off spinner Ramesh Mendis bowled best for Sri Lanka with 4-107.

BAN vs WI 2022: Bangladesh aim for strong comeback in T20I series
The first match of the BAN vs WI 2022 Twenty20 series will be held on Saturday (July 2) at the Windsor Park ground. The match will start at 11.30 p.m. (Bangladesh Standard Time). Bangladesh have to regroup themselves after a demoralizing display in the Test series against the Windies. There will be some changes in the Bangladesh T20 setup as veteran Mahmudullah Riyad will lead the side. On the other hand, Nicholas Pooran will lead the West Indies side. The Caribbean side has also made some changes to their T20 squad. The first T20I match preview is discussed in this article.
West Indies vs Bangladesh Series 2022: First T20I Match Preview
The series is very important for both the teams in order to identify the best possible squads for the upcoming 2022 ICC Twenty20 World Cup. Bangladesh have never played at Windsor Park, the venue of the first match. Oppositely, West Indies have played two matches and won one at this ground. Overall, Bangladesh have faced the Caribbean team three times in the West Indies, but they have failed to win any of those games.

Bangladesh
Bangladesh’s major concern at the moment is their batting. The team management is searching for an answer to a few questions regarding batting, such as: will the batters continue to struggle in the T20 format? Will they find a viable opening pair for the T20? Who will play the anchor role in the absence of Tamim Iqbal? And what’s the solution to power-hitting in the middle-order? In other words, the batters have to step up and show more responsibility in their approach.
Munim Shahriar and Anamul Haque are likely to open the innings as Mohammad Naim has been out of form for quite some time. For Anamul Haque, it will be another opportunity for him to cement his place in the Bangladesh squad. He should seize the chance by showing his true potential during the 3-match series. Besides, Litton, Shakib, and Mahmudullah will have to play a big role in the middle overs.
In bowling, Mustafizur’s cutter will cause problems for the Caribbean batters. Taskin and Shoriful have been brilliant for Bangladesh since 2021. Besides, left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed could give a breakthrough at the start of the innings. Bangladesh’s bowling department seems more equipped than batting. As a result, they may have to undertake a little more responsibility in the game.

West Indies
The West Indies last played a T20I series in February against India. Kieron Pollard announced his retirement after the series and Nicholas Pooran was appointed as the new captain of the West Indies T20 side. There are some changes in their squad too, as household names like Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, DJ Bravo, Sunil Narine, Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, none of them are in the squad.

The West Indies Cricket Board is looking to build a new squad for their Twenty20 side. In the current setup, Brandon King, Kyle Mayers, Nicholas Pooran, and Rovman Powell will be key in the batting line-ups. In bowling, Romario Shepherd and Alzarri Joseph will likely lead the pace bowling unit. They also have Akeal Hosein and Hayden Walsh, both very good spinners.

Middle-Order: Nicholas Pooran (wicket-keeper & captain), Rovman Powell, Odean Smith, Romario Shepherd, Keemo Paul;
Lower-Order: Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Hayden Walsh.
Weather Forecast and Pitch Report
The first match will be held on Saturday, and unfortunately, there is a strong chance of rain on that particular day in Dominica. There have only been two games played here thus far. According to the Windsor Park ground statistics, pace bowlers who have the ability to swing can thrive in the power play. It has been a low-scoring venue so far, but this statistic could change in the future.

Bottom Line
Facing the West Indies in their own backyard will be a real challenge for Bangladesh. Team Tigers can take inspiration from their 2-1 series victory over the Caribbean side in 2018. Though the majority of the players in the 2018 Bangladesh squad will not be seen in the upcoming BAN vs WI 2022 T20I series. It’s a challenge captain Mahmudullah and the youngsters will have to take during the contest.
On the other hand, the West Indies will miss some key players, and a new-look squad will face Bangladesh. The opening game of the series will give an idea of which team will have an advantage in the following two matches. Therefore, both sides will try to outperform each other in the first T20I.

Mehidy, Taskin added to Bangladesh T20I squad
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has called up off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz and right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed to the T20I squad of Bangladesh for the three-match series against the West Indies.
The T20I series will kick off on July 2 in Dominica.
Mehidy has not played a T20I match since December 2018, but he has been a regular part in Tests and ODIs for Bangladesh.
Taskin, meanwhile, has made a full recovery from an injury sustained in South Africa in April this year and makes his return to international cricket.
The Bangladesh T20I squad, originally named for the series, has been hit hard by injuries with pacer Shohidul Islam pulling out prior to the tour. Batter Yasir Ali was forced to return home from Antigua with a back injury while allrounder Mohammad Saifuddin was withdrawn as he is still short of optimal fitness for international cricket.
Ahead of the T20I series, Bangladesh played a two-match Test series against the hosts that the Tigers lost 0-2 without offering a real challenge.
The first and second T20I of the series will take place at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica on July 2 and 3 respectively while the third and final T20I will be played on July 7 at Providence Stadium, Guyana.

ENG vs IND 2022: England, India gear up for fifth Test
The fifth Test between England and India in Manchester was postponed last year due to the growing number of COVID-19 positive cases in the Indian campaign. The respective cricket boards of the two nations agreed to organize the match during India’s white-ball teams' visit to England in July 2022. Therefore, the ENG vs IND 2022 fifth Test match will be played before the limited-overs series and will start on July 1. The Edgbaston cricket ground in Birmingham will host the contest. The match preview of the final Test of England versus India series is discussed in this article.
England vs India Test Series 2021: Fifth Test Match Preview
By taking a 2-1 lead, India have the edge over England in this series. England, on the other hand, must win this game in order to tie the series 2-2. Had the fifth match been contested a couple of months ago, India would have been favourite to clinch it.
However, a lot has changed since Ben Stokes became the captain of the English Test side. Stokes-led England thumped New Zealand 3-0 at home. They seem more confident and aggressive-minded than they were under Joe Root’s captaincy. Besides, England’s record over India at Edgbaston is completely one-sided. They have never lost a Test match against India at this ground.

India
India’s biggest concern at the moment is captain Rohit Sharma’s availability for the fifth match. Rohit was tested positive for COVID-19 last week, but the Indian campaign will wait for his availability until the last moment. If Rohit misses the match, then either Hanuma Vihari or Shubman Gill will fill his spot in the playing XI.
Another hot topic is who will lead Team India in Rohit's absence. There is a possibility that Jasprit Bumrah may captain this Indian Test side or Rishabh Pant could be picked as the skipper for the contest. The possibility of Virat Kohli being able to captain the team for this one match can’t be ruled out either.

England
The English campaign is in a jovial mood at the moment after their recent success against New Zealand. The team spirit is really high under the leadership of Ben Stokes and head coach Brendon McCullum. England will likely deploy four pacers to make things difficult for the Indian batting line-up. In batting, Bairstow is in red-hot form and he can be devastating when needed.
Top-Order: Alex Lees, Zak Crawley, Ollie Pope;
Middle-Order: Joe Root, Jonny Bairstow, Ben Stokes (captain), Ben Foakes (wicket-keeper), Matthew Potts;

Weather Forecast and Pitch Report
As per the weather report in Birmingham, there will be a mixture of sunshine and heavy showers in the next five days. The match could be interrupted briefly if rain remains persistent during the contest. Like the other venues in England, the Edgbaston pitch in Birmingham will likely favour the quicker bowlers, especially on day 1.
The average first innings score in the Test format at this venue is 308. Besides, both campaigns also have to consider the weather conditions before making their decision. However, opting to field first should be an ideal choice for a toss-winning captain.
Aftermath
There is no shortage of talent in the English campaign, but it’s bizarre how England made a brilliant comeback in the home series against New Zealand after losing a Test series against West Indies. England whitewashed New Zealand (3-0) in their recent series, and now they can consider themselves favourites to beat India in the fifth match.
India, on the other hand, is struggling to select their preferred playing XI. Captain Rohit Sharma is still uncertain for the ENG vs IND 2022 fifth Test match. However, this is expected to be an eye-catching contest as both sides consist of some of the best cricketers in the world.

Shakib uncertain for West Indies ODIs
Bangladesh Test captain Shakib Al Hasan is uncertain for the three-match ODI series against the West Indies, BCB president Nazmul Hasan has hinted.
Shakib is part of the ODI squad that the cricket board announced for the upcoming series. But there has always been speculation about his participation in this series.
Read:“It’s not acceptable”: Shakib on Tigers' batting woes
“I knew it before he went to the West Indies,” Nazmul said. “He didn't discuss it with me, but discussed with others.
Nazmul also said that Shakib spoke to Jalal Yunus, the chairman of cricket operations, about taking a leave during the ODI series.
“Shakib didn't talk about it to the board,” Nazmul added. “I will speak to him soon and will get to know what he actually wants. As of now, he hasn't talked to the board officially, but you can still take it as official.”
The three-match ODI series against the West Indies is not a part of the ICC World Cup Super League, which may have prompted the allrounder to skip this series.

Before the ODI series, both the teams will lock horns in a three-match T20I series.

Donald wants a fast, furious Taskin
Right-arm pace bowler Taksin Ahmed said national team bowling coach Allan Donald has asked him to be "fast and aggressive" in the upcoming limited-overs series against the West Indies.
The bowler is all set to be back in action after a long gap imposed by injury. The pacer is now with the team in the West Indies.
"He (Allan) told me to be fast and aggressive," Taskin said. "After joining the team, I've talked to him and asked him what my role should be as I just came back from an injury. He told me to do what I'm used to doing."
Donald directed Taskin to bowl as fast as he could while keeping his line and length accurate.
He said a bowler like Taskin may concede more runs at one stage of a match, but at another, he can take wickets and win the match for his team.
Right before the limited-over series (three one-days and as many T20Is), Bangladesh and the West Indies took on each other in a two-match Test series that the visitors lost 0-2.
Taskin believes Bangladesh has a great chance to make a comeback in the limited-over matches.
"It's unfortunate that we couldn't play well in the last series," he said. "But we will now play a T20I and ODI series where we can do well."
The T20Is of this series will take place on July 2, 3 and 7, and the ODIs on July 10, 13 and 16.
Bangladesh will play in the ACC Asia Cup T20 later this year. After that, they will take part in the ICC T20 World Cup in Australia. So, all the T20I matches ahead of these two big events are important for the Tigers.
Nurul, Khaled make jump in ICC Ranking
Wicketkeeper-batter Nurul Hasan Sohan, left-handed batter Najmul Hossain Shanto and right-handed pacer Khaled Ahmed have seen improvement in the latest ICC Test Ranking for the players.
Bangladesh have recently played a two-match Test series against the West Indies and lost both the matches. The Tigers failed to pose any sort of challenge to the hosts.
Read:BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022: 5 Bangladeshi players to watch out
Despite the team's failure, Nurul did well with the bat. He hit a fifty in each Test and helped the Tigers avoid an innings defeat in the second Test. Sohan is now at 84 after two fifties in the recently-concluded Test series.
Shanto failed to impress with the bat in this series, but he was slightly better than the other batters. The left-handed batter is now at 88 among the Test betters.
And Khaled, the right-arm pacer, picked up 10 wickets in two Tests with a five-wicket haul. Along the way, Khaled became the first Bangladeshi pacer to have registered a five-wicket haul in the West Indies. Khaled is now the 88th among the Test bowlers.
The Tigers are now gearing up for the three-match T20I and three-match ODI series against the West Indies.

BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022: 5 Bangladeshi players to watch out
Bangladesh’s performance in the Test format against West Indies was demoralizing, losing the series by a 2-0 margin. The Tigers T20I team needs to find a way to stop the Windies' aggression as well as to dominate them. Bangladesh’s target should be to clinch the BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022. Losing the series would be regarded as a failure for the Mahmudullah-led Bangladesh side. Let’s take a look at the five players from Bangladesh who could be vital in the Bangladesh versus West Indist T20I contest.
5 Key Bangladeshi players in T20 series against West Indies
Bangladesh must follow the proper strategy in order to win the BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022. Besides, the players have to execute the plan on the field. In this case, some players have to play with a little more responsibility. The five Bangladeshi cricketers who could be important in the series against the West Indies are discussed in this article.
Mahmudullah Riyad
T20Is: 115 | Runs: 2,002 | HS: 64* | Ave: 23.83 | 50s: 6 | Wickets: 37 | BBI: 3/10 | Ave: 26.94 | Econ: 7.19
Captain Mahmudullah will be a crucial part of Bangladesh’s middle order. He must accept responsibility for hastening the death rate. Riyad can also be an effective breakthrough bowler when needed. Besides, all eyes will be on his captaincy, especially how he will lead the Bangladesh team. Since January 2021, Riyad has been Bangladesh's second-highest run-scorer in T20Is.
Read Bangladesh’s T20I Fixtures Before the ICC Twenty20 World Cup 2022
Shakib Al Hasan
T20Is: 96 | Runs: 1,908 | HS: 84 | Ave: 22.44 | 50s: 9 | Wickets: 119 | BBI: 5/20 | Ave: 19.88 | Econ: 6.67 | 5W: 1
There is no doubt that ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan will be a vital player for Bangladesh in the upcoming BAN vs WI T20I Series 2022. Among the Bangladeshi players, Shakib has picked up the most wickets with 19 against West Indies in the T20 format. So, this stat will encourage him to perform even better in the series.
Litton Das
T20Is: 48 | Runs: 917 | HS: 61 | Ave: 19.93 | 50s: 5
Even though Litton’s performance in the recent Twenty20 Internationals hasn’t been so impressive, his experience will come in handy for Bangladesh during the series. In the absence of Mushfiqur Rahim and Tamim Iqbal, Litton will have to play the anchor role for the team.
Read BAN vs WI Test Series 2022: How Bangladesh’s players performed against the Windies
Mustafizur Rahman
T20Is: 63 | Wickets: 87 | BBI: 5/22 | Ave: 19.65 | Econ: 7.57 | 5W: 1
Left-arm pacer Mustafizur Rahman’s cutter delivery will be a major weapon to put West Indian batters under strain in the series. Mustafizur alone can take the game away from the West Indies team if he finds his best rhythm during the series. The recent record is also in Mustafizur’s favor as he has picked up the highest 29 wickets for Bangladesh since 2021.
Nasum Ahmed
T20Is: 20 | Wickets: 26 | BBI: 4/10 | Ave: 16.00 | Econ: 6.44
Left-arm spinner Nasum Ahmed has been a revolution for Bangladesh in the T20 format since making his debut against New Zealand in March 2021. Nasum’s ability to read the batter's mind and intelligent bowling has been impressive. Captain Mahmudullah usually deploys Nasum at the start of the innings to put extra pressure on the batters. This crafty spinner has so far been a big success for Bangladesh in the game's shortest format.

Bottom Line
The West Indies’ recent Twenty20 form hasn’t been impressive. Some new players have been incorporated into the Caribbean T20 squad. The hosts are therefore now a less experienced team than they were before. Bangladesh should seize the opportunity and strive to come up with a plan of strategy that would allow them to outperform the Windies side in the BAN vs. WI T20I Series 2022. Bangladesh have the real potential to win the series if their players play to the best of their abilities.
