Bangladesh Championship League: Brothers Union beat Dhaka Wanderers 1-0
In a battle of two former football giants, Brothers Union Club defeated Dhaka Wanderers Club 1-0 in the Bangladesh Championship League (BCL) Football at the Birshrestha Shaheed Sipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the capital's Kamalapur Wednesday.
After a barren first half, Jikon scored the winner for Gopibagh club Brothers in the 66th minute (1-0).
In today's other match, Uttara Football Club beat Little Friends Club 1-0 at the same venue in the afternoon.
Khairul scored the winner for Uttara in the 64th minute (1-0).
In another match, Fortis Academy (Beraid) beat Wari Club 1-0 at the same venue.
Jishan scored the winner for Fortis in the 67th minute (1-0).
BCL Football: Fakirerpool YC earn 3-1 victory over Swadhinata KS; Gopalganj SC beat NoFel SC 1-0
Fakirerpool Youngmen's Club earned a comfortable 3-1 goals victory over Swadhinata KS in the Bangladesh Championship League (BCL) Football' 2022-23 at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mustafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur here on Tuesday.
Musa, Irfan and Shanto scored one each for the Youngmen's Club in the 36th, 39th and 44th minutes respectively to dominate the first half 3-0.
Rashedul netted the lone goal for Swadinata KS in the 50th minute from a penalty (3-1).
Earlier in the day's first match, Gopalganj Sporting Club managed 1-0 goal victory over NoFel Sporting Club at the same venue Tuesday afternoon.
After a barren first, Iftesham scored the match- winning goal for Gopalganj SC in the 82th minute (1-0).
Fed Cup Football: Bashundhara Kings smartly reach semifinal beating Muktijoddha SKC 3-1
Coming from behind, league champions Bashundhara Kings smartly reached the semifinal of the Federation Cup Football Tournament eliminating Muktijoddha Sangsad KC by 3-1 goal in the first quarterfinal at the Bir Shrestha Fl Lt Matiur Stadium in Munshiganj Tuesday afternoon.
The match was locked in 1-1 goal in the first half.
Jaoanese midfielder Soma Otani put the freedom figters team Muktijoddha ahead in the 35th minute (1-0) while Brazilian striker Dorielton Gomes restored the parity for the Kings in the 42nd minute (1-1).
Dorielton again put the Kings ahead from behind in the 79th minute scoring his 2nd goal (2-1).
Anothe Brazillian forward Robson Robinho sealed the fate of the match scoring the 3rd goal for the Kings in the 82nd minute (3-1).
Star studded Bashundhara Kings will now play the first semifinal on May 9 at 3:15 pm against the winners of Mohammedan SC and Chittagong Abahani at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.
Dhaka Mohammedan SC will meet Chittagong Abahani Limited in the 3rd quarterfinal on April 18 at 3:15 pm at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla.
Dhaka Abahani Limited will face Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club in the 2nd quarterfinal on April 11, also at 3:15 pm at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.
In the 4th and last quarterfinal, Sheikh Russel KC will play Rahmatganj MFS on May 2 at 3:15 pm at Bir Shrestha Fl Lt Matiur Stadium in Munshiganj.
The 2nd semifinal scheduled for May 16, also at 3:15 pm at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla.
The final match between two winning semifinalists billed for May 30 at 3:15 pm at the Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla while the 3rd- place deciding match between two losing semifinalists will be held on May 23 at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj.
2nd phase of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football begins Friday
The 2nd phase of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football '2022-23 begins on next Friday (April 7) with three matches billing for the opening day at three separate venues across the country.
League leader Bashundhara Kings will play Azampur FC (Uttara) at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh, Dhaka Abahani Limited will face Fortis FC Ltd at Muktijoddha Smriti Stadium in Rajshahi while Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club will encounter Rahmatganj MFS at Fl Lt Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj, all will kick-off at 3:15 pm.
On the following day (Saturday), Muktijoddha Sangsad KC will meet Mohammedan SC Ltd at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj while Sheikh Russel KC will play Bangladesh Police FC at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh, both will also kick-off at 3:15 pm.
After the 10-round first phase league matches, defending champions Bashundhara Kings clearly dominated the league securing 30 points, former champions Dhaka Abahani Limited followed the leaders distantly collecting 21 points while Bangladesh Police FC remained at the 3rd slot with 16 points.
Azampur FC (Uttara) and Chittagong Abahani Limited are in the bottom of the league table securing 2 and 8 points respectively ,playing 10 first phase matches each.

Coming from behind, Fakirerpool Young Men's Club beat NoFel Sporting Club 2-1 in the Bangladesh Championship League (BCL) Football at the Birshrestha Shaheed Sipahi Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the capital's Kamalapur Saturday.
Kankar Biwas put NoFel SC ahead in the 39th minute (1-0). But it became 1-1 in the 51st minute as NoFel's Rakib scored an own goal.
Tariqul Islam scored the winner for Fakirerpool in the 81st minute (2-1).
In today's other match, Gopalganj Sporting Club defeated BFF Elite Football Academy 2-1 at the same venue.
After a barren first half, Anik and Saiful scored the winners in the 48th and 89th minutes, respectively.
Mirajul pulled one back for BFF Elite Football Academy in the 73rd minute from a penalty.
In Saturday's other match, Swadhinata KS beat Uttara Football Club 1-0 at the same venue. Asikur scored the winner in the 30th minute.

Two traditional football clubs-- Brothers Union Club and Dhaka Wanderers Club -- won their respective matches in the Bangladesh Championship League (BCL) Football beating their rivals on Thursday at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Shipahi Mohammad Mustafa Kamal Stadium in Kamalapur here.
In the day's first match, coming from behind, Dhaka Wanderers Club defeated Little Friends Club by 3-1 goal in the afternoon.
Rafi put Little Friends Club ahead in the 40th minute from a penalty to dominate the first half (1-0).
Sourav leveled the margin for Wabderers Club in the 51st minute, also from a penalty (1-1).
Shohag scored two more goals for Wanderers Club in the 54th and 63rd minutes to win the match comfortably (3-1).
In the day's other match, Brothers Union Club beat Fortis Academy Limited by 1-0 goal this afternoon.
Zico scored the match- winner for the Gopibagh outfit Brothers in the very 2nd minute of the match (1-0).
Women's Olympic football: Bangladesh pull out of Asian qualifiers due to 'financial constraints'
Bangladesh women's football team will not participate in the first round of the Asian qualifiers matches of the Paris Olympics 2024 due to "financial constraints."
The team is not in a position to participate in the Olympic qualifiers despite taking all the preparations as the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) could not arrange the money for the team's airfare, accommodation, transport, and insurance fee, BFF General Secretary Abu Nayem Shohag told the media Wednesday.
The announcement came just one week before the start of the first round in Myanmar. The qualifiers are scheduled to be held at the Thuwunna Stadium in Myanmar's Yangon from April 5 to 11 this year.
Earlier, Bangladesh were placed in Group B along with hosts Myanmar, Iran and the Maldives.
