Dhaka, Sept 21 (UNB) – Six players shared the top slot in the Marcel Refrigerator 39th National Women Chess Championship securing full three points after the 3rd round matches held at the Bangladesh Chess Federation hall-room on Saturday.
The leaders are: defending women’s champion WIM Rani Hamid of Bangladesh Ansar& VDP, WIM Sharmin Sultana Shirin, WCM Sharmin Samiha Simmi, Jannatul Ferdous, Afrin Jahan Munia of Barishal and Nusrat JahanAlo.
Two players --WFM Nazrana Khan Eva and Thakur Jania Haque-- are jointly in the 2ndslot securing 2.5 points each.
In the day’s 3rd round matches, WIM Rani Hamid beat Jhorna Begum, WIM Shirin beat Ahmed Walijah, Munia beat WCM Noshin Anjum, WCM Shimmi beat Umme Taslima Protiva Talukder, Alo beat Kazi ZarinTasnim, Jannatul beat Sabikun NaharTonima, WFM Eva beat Kiswara Shajrin Evana and Jania beat Sharmin Khan.
The 4th round matches will be held on Sunday from 3 pm at the same venue.

In the girls groups, Siddeswari Girls High beat Willes Little Flowers school by 6-1 goals (first half 3-1), Viqarunnesa Noon School & College defeated Heed International School by 6-2 goals (first half 2-1), Scholastica Uttara beat Scholastica Mirpur by 5-2 goals (first half 4-1), Kadamtola East Bashabo School & College outplayed Uttara Girls High by 11-0 goals (first half 6-0), Shaheed Anwar Girls College trounced South Breeze School by 8-0 goals (first half 2-0), while Sunnydale School crushed Saint Javier Girls School & College by 14-0 goals (1st half 9-0).
In the boys group, Willes Little Flower School beat Rajdhani Ideal School by 14-6 goals (first half 8-3) while Cambrian School & College outplayed Bangladesh Navy College by 20-7 (first half 10-2).
Dhaka, Sept 20 (UNB) - Ruman Shana clinched gold in the men’s recurve singles of the Modhumoti Bank Bangladesh Cup Archery (Stage-3) at the Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi on Friday.
Shana, a player of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, beat Shakib Mollah of Tirondaz Sangsad by 6-2 set points in the final.
In the day’s other matches, Mohammad Hakim Rubel of BKSP bagged bronze beating Pradipta Chakma of BKSP by 7-3 set points at the same venue.
In the women’s recurve singles, Mehnaz Aktar Monira of Dhaka Army Archery Club bagged gold beating Eti Khatun of Tirondaz Sangsad by 6-4 set points in the final while Nasrin Aktar of Dhaka Army Archery Club bagged bronze.
In the men’s compound singles, Siam Siddiqui of Tirondaz Sangsad bagged gold beating Md Javed Alam of Dhaka Army Archery Club by 146-142 scores in the final and Ashim Kumar Das of Tirondaz Sangsad claimed bronze beating Abul Kashem Mamun of Bangladesh Ansar by 146-143 scores.
In the women’s compound singles, Susmita Bonik of Dhaka Army Archery Club bagged gold beating Bonna Aktar of Bangladesh Ansar by 143-141 scores in the final and Ritu Aktar of Tirondaz Sangsad claimed bronze beating Suma Bishwas of Bangladesh Ansar by 139-132 scores.
BKSP won gold medals in the men’s recurve team and women’s recurve team while Dhaka Army Archery Club won gold in the recurve mixed team.
Bangladesh Ansar won gold medals in the women’s compound team and mixed compound team while Dhaka Army Archery Club bagged gold in the men’s compound team.
Dhaka Army Archery Club bagged 9 medals including 4 gold, 4 silver, 1 bronze while Bangladesh Ansar won seven medals including 3 gold, 3 silver, 1 bronze and BKSP bagged 5 medals including 2 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze.

Dhaka, Sept 19 (UNB)- Bangladesh’s premier archer Ruman Shana finished top in the men’s recurve singles in the ranking round of the Modhumoti Bank Bangladesh Cup Archery (Stage-3) at the Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi on Thursday.
Shana, a player of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, scored 685 to finish top.
Mohammad Hakim Rubel and Mohammad Tamimul Islam of BKSP finished 2nd and 3rdin the ranking round of the men’s recurve singles scoring 659 and 647 respectively.
In the women’s recurve singles, Eti Khatun of Tirondaz Sangsad finished top scoring 532, Mehnaz AktarMonira of Dhaka Army Archery Club finished became 2nd scoring 63 while Beauty Roy of Tirondaz Sangsad finished 3rd scoring 626 in the day’s ranking round.
In the men’s compound singles, Sohel Rana of Dhaka Army Archery Club topped list scoring 689,Ashim Kumar Das and Siam Siddiqui of Tirondaz Sangsad finished 2nd and 3rd scoring 689 and 683 respectively.
In the women’s compound singles, BonnaAktar of Bangladesh Ansar clinched the top slot scoring 681,SusmitaBonik of Dhaka Army Archery Club finished 2nd scoring 680 while Shymoli Roy of Bangladesh Ansarbecame 3rd scoring 677.
In the recurve teams’ event, BKSP reached clinched top slot in the men’s recurve team scoring 1953, Dhaka Army Archery Club finished top in the women’s recurve team scoring 1792, while Dhaka Army Archery Club also clinched to slot in recurve mixed team event scoring 1260.
In the compound teams’ event, Tirondaz Sangsad top the men’s compound team scoring 2055, Bangladesh Ansar finished top slot in the women’s compound team scoring 2021 while Dhaka Army Archery Club finished top of the mixed team event scoring 1369.
The elimination round of the two-day meet will be held tomorrow (Friday) from 10 am at the same venue.

Dhaka, Sept 19 (UNB) – The 16th Premier Division Kabaddi League, organized by Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF), begins on Saturday (Sept 21) at the Kabaddi Stadium in the capital.
BKF Vice President and Treasurer of International Kabaddi Federation Amir Hossain Patwari will inaugurate the league at 8:30 am.
Four matches will be held on the opening day (Saturday).
Fifteen teams, split into two groups, will initially compete on a league basis matches.
Participating teams are:
Group A – Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Air Force, Fire Service, Azad SC, Shaheed Mozaffar Smriti Sangsad, Matuail Milon Smriti Sangha and Star Sports.
Group B – Bangladesh Army, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Bangladesh Jail, Dhaka Wanderers Club, Maniknagar Kabaddi Club, Institute of Kabaddi and South Bangla.
