Dubai Open Chess: GM Zia, IM Fahad, FM Tahsin make good starts
Bangladesh's Grand Master Ziaur Rahman, International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman and Fide Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia made good start in the 22nd Dubai Open Chess Tournament after winning their respective 1st round matches held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) Saturday night. In the 1st round matches, GM Zia beat CM Khalifah Khalid of United Arab Emirates, IM Fahad beat FM Ahmed Fareed of United Arab Emirates and FM Tahsin beat Al Zaabi Talal of United Arab Emirates.Two other Bangladeshi players--FM Mehdi Hasan Parag lost to GM Aravindh Chithambaram of India while FM Md Taibur Rahman lost to GM Kuybokarov Temur of Australia in the other first round matches.

In the day's 2nd round matches, GM Zia playing with Md Imran of India, IM Fahad playing against GM Nisipeanu Liviu-Dieter of Germany, FM Tahsin playing with IM N R Vignesh of India, FM Parag playing against Faisal Ali of United Arab Emirates while FM Taibur playing with Abdulrahim Salem of United Arab Emirates. A total of 171 players from 35 countries including 30 Grandmasters, 2 Women Grandmasters, 30 International Master and three Women International Masters are taking part in the event.
22nd Dubai Open Chess Tournament gets underway
The 22nd Dubai Open Chess Tournament began on Saturday in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Five Bangladeshi players --GM Ziaur Rahman, IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman, FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag and FM Md Taibur Rahman -- are taking part in the meet.

27th School Handball begins
The Polar Ice Cream 27th School Handball (Boys and Girls) Tournament 2022 began Thursday at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium.
Habibur Rahman, deputy inspector general of police (Dhaka Range), inaugurated the competition.

Shah Masud Imam, CEO of Polar Ice Cream, was present as a special guest at the function, chaired by Handball Federation General Secretary Asaduzzaman Kohinoor.
In the inaugural match (boys' group), Bangladesh International School beat Ideal School and College 14-11 after leading the first half 7-6.
Abu Dhabi Chess:IM Fahad Rahman shares point with Indian GM P Iniyan; FM Tahsin Zia tastes first win
Bangladeshi International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman shared points with Indian GM P Iniyan as their 7th round match of the 28th Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival-Masters ended in draw at Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Tuesday night.
In the 7th round match, IM Fahad played with white pieces in Queen’s Gambit Declined system and settled for draw after 37 moves.
Bangladesh's GM Ziaur Rahman lost to Indian GM Aryan Chopra. Zia played with black pieces, chose French Defense and lost the match in 43rd move.

FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia, son of GM Ziaur Rahman, tasted the first victory in the meet beating Vaibhab Jayant Raut of India while FM Mehdi Hasan Parag won against Hamad Bader of the UAE.
After the 7th round matches, GM Zia and IM Fahad earned 4 points each, FM Tahsin secured 3.5 points while FM Parag bagged 3 points, playing seven games each.
The 8th and penultimate round games began today (Wednesday) from 7 pm Bangladesh time.
In the 8th round matches, GM Zia is playing against GM Amin Bassem of Egypt, IM Fahad playing against CM Prraneeth Vuppala of India, FM Tahsin playing against CM Kushagra Mohan of India while FM Parag playing against Ojas Kulkarni of India.
Abu Dhabi Chess: GM Ziaur beats Indian GM Abhijeet in 6th round
Grand Master Ziaur Rahman of Bangladesh beat Indian Grand Master Abhijeet Gupta in the 6th round game of the 28th Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival-Masters held in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates Monday night.
In the 6th round, GM Zia played with white pieces in King’s Indian Attack game and beat Indian GM Gupta in the 32nd move.

Bangladeshi IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman drew with another Indian GM Gagare Shardul in the 6th round match. IM Fahad played with white pieces to choose the Reti Opening and settled for a draw after the 36th move.
FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Bangladesh drew with FM Aradhya Garg of India while FM Mehdi Hasan Parag lost to Indian FM Mahitosh Dey.
After the 6th round, GM Zia earned 4 points, IM Fahad earned 3.5 points, FM Tahsin earned 2.5 points while FM Parag bagged one point.
In the 7th round, GM Zia will play against GM Aryan Chopra of India, IM Fahad will play against GM P Iniyan of India, FM Tahsin will play against Vaibhab Jayant Raut and FM Parag will play against Hamad Bader of UAE.
Family Chess Tourney, Abu Dhabi: Bangladeshi Zia and son dominate the field as unbeaten champions
The team of Bangladeshi Grand Master Ziaur Rahman and his son Fide Master Tahsin Tajwar, have been crowned as champions in the Family Tournament of the 28th Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival held in Abu Dhabi.
GM Zia's family team won the title securing maximum 14 points from 7 games - not just unbeaten, but also an all-wins record.
In the family competition, GM Ziaur Rahman Family defeated India's Niroshan Thanikanchalam Family 2-0 in the first round (two game points to zero).
Next they beat Abucejo Armel N Family of the Philippines by 1.5-0.5 game points in the second round.

Another team of the Philippines, the Reyes Danilo Family, were also beaten 2-0 in the third round.
In the fourth round, they beat Grand Master Castaneda Georgu's Family from Peru family by 1.5-0.5, and in the fifth round it was the family of Mansurov Botir of Uzbekistan - again, 2-0.
In the sixth round, Zia Family team won against International Master Tissir Mohamed family of Morocco by 1.5-0.5 game points, while in the 7th and final round you came up against the defeated Dinesh Chitlange Family of India by 2-0 game points in the 7th round match.
Meanwhile, the 6th round games of the 28th Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival-Masters tournament got underway Monday evening after a rest day on Sunday.
In the 6th round games GM Zia will be playing against GM Abhijeet Gupta of India; IM Fahad playing against GM Gagare Shardul, FM Tahsin playing against FM Aradhya Garg of India and FM Parag playing against FM Mahitosh Dey of India till last report received.
Fed Cup Basketball: Bangladesh Navy emerge unbeaten champions
Bangladesh Navy emerged unbeaten champions in the Federation Cup Basketball Tournament 2022 beating Dhumketu Club by 68-35:points in the final at the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Monday.
Bangladesh Navy clearly dominated the first half by 45-19 points.
Mehedi of the champions sailors team caged the match highest 14 points while Sajid scored 10 points for the runners-up Dhumketu Club.

President of Bangladesh Basketball Federation Dr Mustafa Jalal Mohiuddin, who is also the President of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) and a former MP, was the chief in the day's final and later he distributed the trophies.
In the semifinals on Sunday, Bangladesh Navy eliminated Bangladesh Air Force by 86-52 points while Dhumketu Club beat Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) by 81-72 points.

A total of eight teams took part in the just concluded five-day Federation Cup Basketball.
Fed Cup Basketball: Bangladesh Navy, Dhumketu Club reach final
Bangladesh Navy and Dhumketu Club reached the final of the Federation Cup Basketball Tournament 2022 eliminating their rivals in the semifinals at the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium in Mirpur on Sunday.The final match between two teams will be held on Monday (Aug 22) at 10am at the same venue. In the day's first semifinal, Bangladesh Navy eliminated Bangladesh Air Force by 86-52 points after leading the first half by 44-20 points.

Bangladeshi GM Ziaur Rahman and IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman earned 2 points each after the 4th round matches of the 28th Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival-Masters held in the UAE city of Abu Dhabi on Friday night.
FM Tahsin Tajwar Zia earned 1.5 points and FM Mehdi Hasan Parag earned 1 point.
In the 4th round matches, GM Ziaur Rahman won against WGM P V Nandhidha of India, FM Tahsin drew with WFM Ricken Katharina of Netherland, IM Fahad lost to GM Mendonca Leon Luke of India and FM Parag lost to FM Ibadov Dashgyn of Russia.
A total of 148 players including 43 Grand Masters 7 Women Grand Masters, 34 International Masters, 3 Women International Masters, 36 FIDE Masters and Women FIDE Masters from 31 countries are participating in this event.

The 28th Abu Dhabi International Chess Festival began on Wednesday at 7 pm (Bangladesh time) UAE city of Abu Dhabi.
Bangladesh Grandmaster Ziaur Rahman, International Master Mohammad Fahad Rahman, FIDE Master Tahsin Tajwar Zia and FIDE Master Mehdi Hasan Parag are taking part in the Masters event of the meet.
