Domestic flight operations resume after 2-month suspension
Domestic flights operation resumed on Monday on Dhaka- Chattogram, Dhaka- Sylhet and Dhaka-Syedpur routes on a limited scale after more than two months of suspension amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Senior Secretary Mohibul Haque told UNB that as the number passengers was less than usual some flights have been canceled. These flights will be operated when there will be enough passengers, he added.
He said all measures have been taken at the airports to ensure health safety of passengers of domestic flights.
No dengue case reported in 24 hrs
No new dengue case was reported in the last 24 hours till 8am on Monday, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
One dengue patient is now being treated at a hospital, according to the daily update from DGHS.
Since the beginning of this year, 306 dengue cases were reported and of them 305 patients have been discharged.
Bangladesh experienced a massive dengue outbreak last year when 101,354 people were hospitalised. Of them, 101,037 made full recovery.
According to official figures, the mosquito-borne disease killed 179 people in 2019.
Bollywood music composer Wajid Khan dies
Renowned Indian music composer-singer Wajid Khan, known as one-half of the music director duo Sajid-Wajid, died on Monday in a Mumbai hospital due to multiple health complications at the age of 42.
The singer was recently tested positive for COVID-19 and also had kidney infection, according to Indian media.
The news was confirmed by singer Sonu Nigam, who wrote in an Instagram post, “My brother Wajid left us.”
Starting their career in 1998 with Salman Khan-starrer Pyaar Kiya Toh Darna Kya, Sajid-Wajid scored music for many films of the superstar including Dabangg franchise, Chori Chori, Hello Brother, Wanted and Mujhse Shaadi Karogi.
