PM to announce workplan Sunday to overcome corona fallout
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will announce the government’s workplan at a press conference on Sunday to overcome the possible impacts of the coronavirus outbreak on the economy.
The press conference will be held at 10am at Sheikh Hasina’s official residence Ganobhaban, said PM's Press Sectary Ihsanul Karim.

31 home quarantined in Jashore in 24 hrs
Thirty one suspected coronavirus or COVID-19 infected people were kept in home quarantine in 24 hours until Thursday night in the district.
Civil Surgeon Dr Sheikh Abu Shahin said one of them was home quarantined in Abhaynagar, two in Chaugachha, 18 in Sadar, two in Keshabpur and eight in Manirampur upazila.
So far, no COVID-19 infected patient was detected in the district and a total of 1,415 people were released from quarantine, he said.
“The returnees from the foreign countries are kept in quarantine and action will be taken if they defy the government directive, “ he added.
Meanwhile, two more people tested positive for coronavirus in the last 24 hours, raising the total number of cases in the country to 56, the government announced onThursday.
The global death toll from coronavirus jumped to 53,190 on Friday.
Three Bogura houses under lockdown
Local administration has put three houses at Shiali village in Dhunat upazila under lockdown after a man with coronavirus symptoms was admitted to the isolation unit of Mohammad Ali Hospital.
The local administration put the three houses under lockdown on Thursday night as safety measure, said Razia Sultana, Upazila Nirbahi Officer adding that food will be supplied to the houses.
Air Quality:Dhaka again ranks worst
Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka ranked first among cities with the worst quality in the Air Quality Index (AQI) on Friday morning.
It had an AQI score of 202 at 8:13 am.The air was classified as ‘very unhealthy’.
Thailand’s Chiang Mai and China’s Shenyang occupied the second and third positions with AQI scores of 192 and 165 respectively.
When the AQI value is between 201 and 300, the entire population is more likely to be affected.
The AQI, an index for reporting daily air quality, informs people how clean or polluted the air of a certain city is, and what associated health effects might be a concern for them.
In Bangladesh, the AQI is based on five criteria pollutants – Particulate Matter (PM10 and PM2.5), NO2, CO, SO2 and Ozone (O3).
The Department of Environment has also set national ambient air quality standards for these pollutants. These standards aim to protect against adverse human health impacts.
Dhaka has long been grappling with air pollution. The air quality usually improves during monsoon.
Consult doctors, says PM issuing 31 directives
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday issued 31 directives, including consulting physicians in case there are Covid-19 symptoms without hiding those and not using personal protective equipment (PPE) by all, to curb coronavirus in the country .
