Barrister Mainul Hosein no more
Barrister Mainul Hosein, former adviser to a caretaker government, passed away on Saturday. He was 83.
Hosein, also the publisher of the daily newspaper The New Nation, breathed his last at the Evercare Hospital Dhaka around 6 pm, according to family sources.
His first namaz-e-janaza will be held at Baridhara Jame Mosque at 10:30 am on Sunday. He will be buried at Azimpur graveyard following his second namaz-e-janaza at Supreme Court compound after Zhur prayer. Barrister Mainul Hosein, born in January in 1940, served as the law, information, and land advisor to the military-backed Caretaker Government of Bangladesh from January 2007 to January 2008.
Hosein was born to the famous journalist and politician, Tofazzal Hossain Manik Miah.
PM mourns death of National Heart Foundation founder Dr. Abdul Malik
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of National Heart Foundation founder, National Professor Dr Abdul Malik.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister said that Dr Abdul Malik was the pioneer of heart disease treatment in Bangladesh.
“He was a successful doctor, renowned teacher, and social worker. He has been awarded and appreciated in various ways for his philanthropic activities. His contribution in the field of heart disease treatment in Bangladesh will be remembered forever.”
The Prime Minister prayed for the eternal salvation of the departed soul and expressed sympathy to the bereaved family.
FM mourns death of Maya Chowdhury's son
Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Sajedul Hossain Chowdhury Dipu, eldest son of Awami League Presidium member and former minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya.
In a condolence message, the Foreign Minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to the bereaved family.
Dipu died of cardiac arrest this evening while undergoing treatment at the United Hospital in the capital. He was 53.
Veteran senior journalist M Wahidullah passes away
Senior journalist, freedom fighter, storyteller, and permanent member of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) M Wahidullah has passed away. He was 72.
He breathed his last around 2:10 pm on Thursday. He was buried in the Banani Graveyard in Dhaka after his namaz-e-janaza on Friday.
He was given a guard of honour after namaz-e-janaza at Jatiya Press Club.
Wahidullah left behind his wife, a son, two daughters, and a host of colleagues and admirers.
Dhaka Reporters Unity President Mursalin Nomani and General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel expressed grief and sorrow on behalf of the DRU Executive Committee.
Bangladesh Awami League’s Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, JPC General Secretary Shyamal Dutta, Chattogram Samity, Dhaka leaders, CJFD leaders, and DRU leaders were present at his namaz-e-janaza. They paid last respect to him by placing wreaths at his coffin.
Former diplomat Waliur Rahman no more
Former diplomat and secretary Waliur Rahman passed away on Wednesday. He was 80.
He died of cardiac arrest around 10:30 am, family sources said.
His namaz-e-janaza will be held at Baitul Aman Jame Mosque in Dhanmondi after Maghrib prayers.
Ambassador Rahman, born on 26 December 1942, served as Special Envoy to the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina (1997-1998).
He also served as Executive Director of Bangladesh Institute of Law and International Affairs (BILIA).
He resigned from Pakistan Government in 1971 and set up Bangladesh Mission for Bangladesh government in exile as a refugee for 9 months.

Shamser Ali breathed his last at a private hospital in Sylhet city around 8:45 pm on Sunday. He was 76.
The namaz-e-janaza of Shamser Ali will be held after Zohr prayers on Monday on Syed Hatim Ali (R) shrine premises in Sylhet. Later, he will be buried in Dargah-e- Hazrat Shah Jalal (R) graveyard.

Khulna City Corporation’s first mayor Sirajul Islam passes away
Sirajul Islam, the first mayor of Khulna City Corporation (KCC), passed away due to old-age complications at his residence in Khulna city early this morning. He was 90.
Shafiqul Islam Sipar, elder son of the former mayor, said his father breathed his last around 4:45 am at their house on Haji Mohsin Road in the city.

Sirajul's namaz-e-janaza will be held at Khulna’s Shaheed Hadis Park after Asr prayers, he said, adding that his father had been suffering from old-age complications for a long time.

The former mayor is survived by two sons, four daughters, and a host of well-wishers. His wife died earlier.
Current KCC Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque condoled the death of Sirajul Islam and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul.
He also conveyed sympathy to the bereaved family members.

Regional Integrated Rural Development conference for Asia Pacific underway
The opening ceremony of "2nd Flagship Training Programme on Regional Integrated Rural Development, Governance, Trade and Sustainable Development in ASIA and the PACIFIC" was held at CIRDAP International Conference Centre on Saturday.
The programme has been organised jointly by Centre on Integrated Rural Development for Asia and the Pacific (CIRDAP) and Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD)
Local Government and Rural Devopment Minister Md. Tajul Islam, Secretary General of Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Dr. Pornchai Danvivathana, Director General of CIRDAP Dr. Cherdsak Virapat, Director General BARD Md. Harun-or-Rashid Mollah and course director Dr. Somporn Hanpongpandh were present.
"In the last 15 years many projects have been taken to develop the infrastructure of Bangladesh. Bangladesh will not be left behind anymore," Md Tajul Islam said.
The event will continue November 27. A total 24 participants from Bangladesh, Fiji, India, Indonesia, Iran, Lao, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Ghana and Mauritius are attending this training programme.
The three modules of this training are Integrated Rural Development Framework, Trade, Sustainable Development & Multi- lateral treaties on Environmental Legal Issues, Adaptive Management in Rural Development in Asia and the Pacific Region and Policy Formulation and Comprehensive Implementation.
35 Renowned International and local Lecturers specialized in IRD sector from Bangladesh, Thailand, India, Norway, Canada and Pakistan will take the class in both Physical and online mode. The course will be directed by Dr. Somporn Hanpongpandh.
Veteran journalist Khaled Belal passes away
Senior journalist, storyteller, and senior member of Chattogram Metropolitan Union of Journalists (CMUJ) Khaled Belal has passed away. He was 80.
He breathed his last around 10: 00 am on Monday. He was buried in the graveyard on the Garibullah Shah Shrine premises in Chattogram city after his namaz-e-janaza.
Journalist Rafiq Bhuiyan, injured during yesterday’s violence, dies
Khaled Belal left behind a son, two daughters, and a host of colleagues and admirers.
According to family sources, Khaled was ill for a long time. After his physical condition deteriorated recently, his family members admitted him to the National Hospital in the port city, where he died while undergoing treatment in the ICU.
Born in the house of Oli Gandhi near Bauria Moulvibazar in the Sandwip upazila of Chattogram, Khaled was the assistant editor of the Daily Ishan.
JS secretariat PR director Labannya Ahmed dies
At the beginning of his career, he worked at The Daily Paigham in Dhaka. He then joined the Press Information Department (PID). After retiring from government duties, he went back to journalism. After The Daily Ishan, he joined the English daily The People's View as an advisory editor.
Among his numerous books, several stories and essays are notable, including "Mara Gange Dub Satar" and "Khoma Koro Sharifar Ma'.
