“We’re not against development. But it should be well-planned and in the public interest to preserves the environment,” she said while speaking at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters Unity.
She said the government is on the way to destroy sensitive areas like forest, hills, ocean and above all, the environment.
“Why these sensitive spots are repeatedly being selected in the name of development?” she asked.
BAPA’s Executive Vice-President Dr Md Abdul Matin, General Secretary Sharif Jamil, Executive Director of Transparency International Bangladesh Dr Iftekharuzzaman, among others, spoke on the occasion.
The press conference was organised to release a report titled ‘The tourist capital of Bangladesh endangered by plans to build the largest coal power hub in the world’.
