Complete lockdown
Rajshahi administration put the district under lockdown following the detection of two coronavirus cases. Deputy Commissioner Hamidul Haque made the announcement in a public notice in the morning.
Two people have so far been diagnosed with Covid-19 in Pathiya and Baghmara upazilas. Both of them returned from Dhaka and Narayanganj.
In Nilphamari, a district-wide lockdown was imposed citing an increase in the number of coronavirus cases.
Deputy Commissioner Md Hafizur Rahman Chowdhury made the announcement in the afternoon after four new cases were reported in one week from Kishoreganj, Saidpur, Dimla and Jaldhaka upazilas.
In Gopalganj, Deputy Commissioner Shahida Sultana announced complete lockdown of the district from 10pm Tuesday which will be effective until further notice.
Nine coronavirus patients have so far been found people were found in the district, she said.
Partial lockdown:
In Shariatpur, local administration put 82 families under lockdown at Sadar and Zajira upazilas after the detection of four coronavirus cases.
Civil Surgeon Dr SM Abdullah Al Murad said they sent 15 samples to Dhaka for test and found four of them positive.
In Kurigram, 15 villages in Rowmari upazila were put under lockdown after a teen tested positive for Covid-19.
Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Md Momenul Islam said the teen returned home from Dhaka and developed coronavirus symptoms in recent days.
In Noakhali, local administration put a private clinic under lockdown in the district town on Monday night following the death of a Covid-19 patient who was first taken to it.
New cases
In Munshiganj, four more people, including a woman, have been diagnosed with coronavirus, raising the total number in the district to 18.
Civil Surgeon Dr Abul Kalam Azad said they sent the samples of 23 people on Sunday and four of them were found to be positive for coronavirus.
In Savar, a physician of Savar Health Complex has tested positive for coronavirus, said an official. Executive Magistrate Abdullah Al Mahfuz said the doctor has been suffering from coronavirus symptoms for the last several days.
In Nababganj, a Tabligh member was diagnosed with coronavirus.
Dr Hargobinda Sarkar Anup, Medical Officer of Upazila Health Complex, said the 46-year-old returned home on April 10 and his samples were collected the next day when he fell sick.
Recently, another Tabligh returnee was found to be infected at Tasulla village of the upazila, he said, noting that so far the upazila has recorded three cases.
In Narsingdi, eight more people were diagnosed with coronavirus, taking the number of confirmed cases in the district to 29.
Civil Surgeon Dr Ibrahim Titon confirmed the development, saying the new patients are from Palash, Raipura, Belabo and Monohardi upazilas.
In Brahmanbaria, two more people, including a physician, were newly infected in Bijoynagar and Nasirnagar upazilas.
Civil Surgeon Ekram Ullah said a female doctor of Bijoynagar Upazila Health Complex was found infected while another man from Nasirnagar upazila was also infected by the virus.
So far, ten people are infected by COVID-19 in the district, he said.
In Dinajpur, four people were diagnosed with coronavirus in Nababganj and Fulbari upazilas, said Civil Surgeon Dr Abdul Kuddus.
All of them came from outside the district, he said.
In Khulna, another man was found infected at Khulna Medical College Hospital, said Dr Mehedi Newaz of Vice-Principal of KMCH.
The infected patient is a resident of Bagerhat who has been working as an imam of a Madaripur mosque, he said.
In Rajshahi, a 30-year-old woman was found coronavirus positive, said Putia Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer Dr Nazma Aktar.
The woman who bore no symptoms of the virus, along with her husband came from Narayanganj on Sunday, she said.
In Barguna, a garment worker who returned from Narayanganj was found coronavirus positive.
The district has so far reported four cases.
In Kishoreganj, a physician and two others were diagnosed with coronavirus in Kishoreganj on Tuesday, said Civil Surgeon Dr Md Mujibur Rahman. “So far, 18 people in the district have tested positive for coronavirus,” he said.
Meanwhile, the local administration locked down Karimganj Upazila Health Complex after a doctor and a staffer were diagnosed with coronavirus, Rahman said. Another patient is from Bhairab upazila, the civil surgeon said.
Meanwhile, seven more people died from coronavirus in Bangladesh in the last 24 hours till Tuesday, taking the death toll in the country to 46.
Besides, 209 more people tested positive for coronavirus during the period, taking the number of such cases in the country to 1,012.
