The ongoing general holidays, aimed at curbing the spread of coronavirus, has left them without jobs and food to feed their families.
Witnesses said the people ignored the high risk of coronavirus infection and blockaded a regional road in the area around 11am.
Protesters said they got no food aid from the government even after going to offices and houses of local representatives.

Some of them said the local chairmen insulted them when they sought help and drove them out empty handed.
About an hour of demonstration, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Kamruzzaman went to the spot and brought the situation under control. He said the people withdrew their protest after the administration assured them of providing them food aid.
Protests for food aid have taken place in Jashore and Gopalganj earlier.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday ordered the Awami League and its affiliated organisations to form a relief committee and asked them to ensure delivering relief materials to those in need.

She has also warned against any irregularities in distributing relief. The LGRD and Cooperatives Ministry has suspended four union parishad chairmen and five UP members on charges of embezzling rice and other relief material.
Bangladesh has reported 50 deaths and 1,231 coronavirus cases as of Wednesday.
The government has shut down all non-essential services, public transport and urged people to stay indoors to tackle the situation. But the move left hundreds of thousands of people who lived from hand to mouth without jobs.

Prime Minister Hasina said around five million ultra poor, distressed, helpless and jobless people have been put under the purview of government ration card and steps have been taken to include another five million people in the ration card system to face the crisis triggered by coronavirus outbreak.
