Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Riva Ganguly Das and Italian Ambassador Enrico Nunziata separately presented their credentials to the President at 3pm and 3:30pm respectively.
Abdul Hamid said Bangladesh attaches importance to bilateral and friendly relations with all.
Bangladesh always gives priority to the expansion of the bilateral relations in the field of trade and investment, he said.
The President expressed the hope that the bilateral relations with these countries will further be expanded during their assignments here.
During the meeting with the Indian envoy, Hamid expressed his gratefulness to the people and the government of India for their heartfelt support during the 1971 Liberation War. "The existing relations with India are very excellent. The ties in different sectors, including commerce and investment, are increasing day by day," he said.
Referring to the road-water-airway connectivity between Bangladesh and India, he said this has helped enhance the relations between the peoples of the two neighbouring countries strengthening the bilateral base.
The Indian high commissioner lauded the tremendous development of Bangladesh in various sectors, especially socioeconomic, communication and infrastructural ones.
She said India will stay by Bangladesh for its socioeconomic development.
During the meeting with the Italian ambassador, the President said Bangladesh has a lot of scope for investment and urged Italy to explore the potentials here.
He also mentioned the existing excellent relations between the two countries and hoped that the relations will reach a new height in the days to come.
Baraka Haran Luvanda, Ashraf Farhad Shikhaliyev and Farhod Arziev, ambassadors of Tanzania, Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan respectively, also presented their credentials to the President at 4:30pm, 4:45pm and 5pm respectively.
Mentioning the foreign policy -- "friendship to all and malice to none", Hamid said Bangladesh gave importance to the increase of the bilateral and multilateral relations with all.
He said the investment in medicine, agriculture and leather sectors is very bright in Bangladesh.
The President also emphasised on visits at both the government and private levels for utilising the potential of investment.
He also hoped that the envoys will work for enhancing the mutual relations during their tenure in Bangladesh.
The envoys said they will also make all-out efforts to strengthen the relations with their respective countries.
They also sought cooperation for completion of their tenure successfully.
Secretaries concerned to the President and high officials of Foreign Ministry were present.
On their arrival at Bangabhaban, a smartly turned-out contingent of the President Guard Regiment (PGR) offered the envoys guards of honour.
