Dhaka, Apr 18 (UNB) – The Appellate Division on Thursday disposed a petition filed by the state seeking stay on a High Court order that had granted bail to 14 BNP leaders including its Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
An Appellate Division bench led by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain passed the order.
The full verdict including observations of the bench will be coming out later.
Khandakar Mahbub Hossain, appearing as chief legal counsel on behalf of the BNP leaders, said through this disposal of the petition, the bail orders in favour of the BNP leaders against which the petition sought the stay will come into force as well.
Attorney General Mahbubey Alam said everything around the case will be clearer after getting the complete verdict.
The BNP leaders secured bail in October last year in two cases filed with Hatirjheel and Khilgaon Police Stations.
