This year’s pass rate is 7.29 percent higher than last year’s when the overall pass rate in the examinations was 66.64 percent.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina officially unveiled the results on Wednesday morning which was later published at a press briefing at the Education Ministry around noon.
A total of 9,88,172 candidates among 13,36,629 students cleared the tests.
This year, 47,286 students achieved highest grade GPA 5 against last year’s 29,262.
The overall pass rate of the eight general education board is 71.85 percent. For the madrasa board, the rate is 88.56 percent. Meanwhile, 82.62 percent vocational board candidates cleared the exams.
Among the successful students, 41,807 achieved the highest grade GPA 5 under eight general education boards while 2,243 under the Madrassah Education Board and 3,236 under the Technical and Vocational Education Board.
The number of institutions with hundred percent pass rate is 909.
A total 254 students out of 270 students came out successful from eight institutions and centres abroad with 94.07 percent pass rate. Among them, 26 students secured GPA 5.
Addressing the event, Education Minister Dr Dipu Moni said, “The percentage of successful student has been increased this year, the students of districts and upazila headquarters also showed good results. All these are positive signs for the education system.”
Referring the students, Dipu Moni said, “What will happen with only good numbers without developing values? Acquire human virtues and love others.”
She urged the parents not to push their children towards unhealthy competition and grow them as self-centered.
A total of1,336,629 students participated in this year's HSC and its equivalent examinations which were held from April 1 to May 21.
