The Mosquito Fogger Machines have been given to Cox’s Bazar District Administration aiming to assist the local authorities to eradicate possibility of the expansion of Dengue, Chikungunya, Malaria in the host community areas.
IOM’s Deputy Chief of Mission in Bangladesh Manuel Pereira handed over the mosquito fogger machines to Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner Md. Kamal Hossain at monthly district development coordination meeting. All the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNO) from eight upazilas of the district and representatives from IOM were present among other government officials and development partners.
The handing over event was held at the conference room of Cox’s Bazar DC Office where IOM’s Deputy Chief of Mission in Bangladesh Manuel Pereira chaired the handing over event.
During the handing over, Cox’s Bazar DC Md. Kamal Hossain thanked IOM for supporting host community continuously. He said: “With this assistance, the people from the district will be benefitted and we can work more smoothly for eradicating mosquito and mosquito-borne diseases.”
IOM’s Deputy Chief of Mission in Bangladesh Manuel Pereira said: “IOM is happy to contribute in the betterment of host community and looking forward to collaborate with the district administration for future endeavors.”
Amongst the 12 fogger machines, eight will be given to eight UNO offices, two will be given to office of Cox’s Bazar Municipality Mayor, one will be given to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital and another one will be reserved in the district administration office. Cox’s Bazar is a risk-prone area for Malaria, Dengue, Chikungunya and such type mosquito-borne diseases.
