President Abdul Hamid on Monday assented to two bills passed in the sixth session of Parliament.
The bills are Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation Bill, 2020 and Bangladesh Lighthouse Bill, 2020, said a PID handout.
The ‘Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation Bill, 2020’ was passed in Parliament on February 11, paving the way for offloading 49 percent share of the corporation in the capital market.
According to the proposed law, the government will own 51 percent shares while 49 percent will be offloaded for the public.
Parliament passed the ‘Bangladesh Lighthouse Bill, 2020’ on February 12 making the existing the Lighthouse Act, 1927 a time-befitting one.
As per the bill, there will be a port lighthouse authority to supervise and run the country’s port lighthouses.
