He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest after inaugurating the modern food laboratory of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC).
“We need to build hospitals, improve the quality of treatment and provide clean and unadulterated food to the people. There is no alternative to pure and nutritious food to increase the human body's resistance to disease,” said the minister.
Tajul said that if a person's immunity develops, virus cannot easily overwhelm him. And human immunity depends on the food-cycle. When food is adulterated, people are easily infected with small viruses.
Describing the laboratory as having high standard like those in Europe, he said that it will contribute to providing safe foods to city dwellers.
DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Nur Taposh was also present at the programme.
These modern food laboratories are being constructed in seven city corporations under the project "Urban Public and Environmental Health Sector Development" under the Local Government Department funded by ADB.
