Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested two members of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh, a banned militant outfit, in Patiya upazila here on Thursday.
The arrestees are Abdullah Abu Sayed, 35, son of Abdur Rahim and Md Ismail, 35, son of late Abdul Nabi of Cox’s Bazar’s Teknaf upazila.
Mahmudul Hasan, assistant superintendent of police and assistant director (media) of Rab-7, said tipped off, Rab members set up a check post at Shantir hat on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway.
They arrested the two when they were trying to flee after getting off a passenger bus around 12 am, he said, adding six ‘Jihadi’ books and some leaflets were seized from their possession.
During primary interrogation, they admitted their involvement with the militant outfit.
