Rina bagged 23,865 votes while her nearest rival got 3,807 votes, unofficial results from 50 poll centres showed.
The upazila has 1,17, 485 voters. Voting took place between 9am and 5pm using EVMs.
In Bandar upazila, Awami League-backed Rashid was elected unopposed while Sanaullah Sanu and Salima Hossain Shanta were elected vice-chairmen, according to unofficial results.
There are 1,14, 553 voters in the upazila. The local administration said that about 20 percent voters exercised their franchise.
Meanwhile, in Nakla upazila, independent candidate Borhan Uddin won the chairman’s post defeating the ruling Awami League candidate Shafiqul Islam.
Borhan bagged 29,839 votes while Islam got 24,883 votes.
Returning Officer and District Election Officer Shukur Mahmud Mia declared the result after counting votes. The election was held at 67 voting centres without any unwanted incident.
In Taltali upazila, Awami League’s Rezbul Karim was elected chairman defeating renegade candidate Montu.
Karim bagged 28,514 votes while Montu got 10,696.
