A woman died Tuesday afternoon after falling from the roof of a three-storey building in the capital’s Lalbagh area.
The deceased was identified as Nasreen Akhter (40), wife of Md. Jafar.
Jafar, who works in a filling station in the Nilkhet area, said that he was sleeping when the incident occurred.
Relatives rushed seriously injured Nasreen to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty doctor declared her dead.
Jafar said Nasreen had been ill for several days, infected with Covid. She used to say that she would die soon, he added.
A relative claimed that they did not have a child in their 19 years of married life and she gradually developed mental complications. He thinks that it might have been a suicide.
Abdul Khan, assistant sub-inspector of DMCH Police outpost, said the body has been kept in the hospital morgue and the incident has been reported to the concerned police station.
