With a gram of 24-karat gold selling at just over Tk 4000 in Bangladesh, the total value of the find was about Tk 70,000.
The ideal youths are : Rubel Ahmed of village Chokmokimpur under Belkuchi upazila of Sirajganj, Faisal of Enayetpur thana, Nur Alam of village Dewanganj of Jamalpur and Akash of village Kamarkhond of Kamarkhond upazila.
The four youths found the bag from the side of a Christian graveyard on MA Matin road in Sirajganj municipal area on Friday afternoon. They submitted the vanity bag along with the ornaments at the Sirajganj Sadar police station on that evening after they failed to find out its owner.
While returning the bag to its owner the youths informed that they found the bag on the road at the place while they were going to Sirajganj town by a CNG on Friday afternoon. At this time, they found the gold ornaments inside the bag.
Owner of the bag Maksuda Parveen, daughter of Bhodroghat Union Awami League President Abdul Malek Khan, told newsmen that she lost the bag containing 1.75 tola gold ornaments by mistake on her way to the town from Bhodroghat bazaar.
Later the four young men uploaded posts on social media about the incident of getting the bag.
After noticing the post Sirajganj Sadar Police Station was contacted.
“I was really surprised after getting back the lost bag. There are many good and honest people in the country,”said Maksuda Parveen, owner of the vanity bag.
OC of Sirajganj Sadar Police Station Mohammad Daud, OC (Investigation) of Sadar Police Station Rafiqul Islam and other police officials and local journalists were present while the bag was being returned to its owner from the thana on Monday morning.
