“The Prime Minister has spoken the truth and she has the courage to speak the truth. She has also moral courage to admit mistakes,” he said while talking to reporters at the Secretariat.
Quader, also road transport and bridges minister, said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina did not create the culture of impunity. “Rather, she has taken action against criminals wherever any crime took place.”
He said Sheikh Hasina declared that no corrupt element will be spared, no matter who and how powerful they are.
The ruling party leader said she has implemented her promise so that no-one can snatch people’s rights. “The Prime Minister doesn’t believe in charming words. Her main focus is the employment of youths and she is working to implement her pledges.”
A target has been set to create 1.5 crore jobs, he said, adding, “So, it’s not true that the Prime Minister didn’t mention anything in this regard,” he said.
Talking about the rape of a Dhaka University student, Quader said the rapist has already been arrested which is a matter of relief.
Asked whether the work on the Metro Rail will be completed by December next, he said they have discussed the issue with all concerned. “The government has extended the deadline till June 2021 as there’re some other related works to be done. I think, the work will be finished by then.”
