Dhanmondi Cricket Academy (DCA) recently renamed their clubhouse as the Nadir Shah Stand to honour the international umpire who passed away on September 10.
Nadir was one of the founding members of DCA and the club's first coach.
DCA President Abu Mohammad Sabur, General Secretary Arman Nammu and Joint Secretary Tayeb Afzal were present on the occasion.
The idea of naming the clubhouse after Nadir Shah came from Roquibul Hassan, former Bangladesh captain and match referee, who worked closely with the umpire for years.
Roquibul, during a discussion programme held at the DCA ground Friday, requested the club to rename the clubhouse after Nadir Shah.
Sabur said future generations of cricketers will be inspired by Nadir Shah's sporting spirit and love for cricket, as he spent many hours watching and inspiring young cricketers at DCA.
Nadir, a leg-spinner and handy batsman in his playing days appeared for two decades for a host of famous clubs in the Dhaka League, including Abahani, Mohammedan, Biman, Brothers Union, Surjo Tarun, Kalabagan, Azad Boys and Dhanmondi, according to the Bangladesh Cricket Board.
