National Chess: GM Niaz Murshed maintains solo lead

Grand Master Niaz Murshed of Bangladesh Ansar maintained his solo lead securing five points after the 6th round matches of the Saif Powertec 45th National Chess Championship at the SREDA auditorium of the Institute of Engineers, Bangladesh in Ramna on Thursday.
GM Mollah Abdullah Al Rakib of Saif Sporting Club and FM Mohammad Taibur Rahman followed the leader neck and neck collecting 4.5 points each.
Five players--GM Ziaur Rahman and IM Mohammad Fahad Rahman of Bangladesh Ansar, IM Mohammad Minhaz Uddin of Bangladesh Navy, FM Mehdi Hasan Parag of Golden Sporting Club and CM Manon Reja Neer of Chattogram—shared the 3rd slot securing four points each.
GM Reefat Bin Sattar of Bangladesh Ansar, IM Abu Sufian Shakil and FM Khandaker Aminul Islam of Bangladesh Navy earned 3.5 points each after the days’ round.
In the day’s 6th round matches, GM Niaz drew with GM Zia, GM Rakib beat GM Reefat, IM Minhaz drew with IM Fahad, FM Taaibur beat IM Shakil, CM Manon beat FM Debaraj Chatterjee of Barisal, FM Parag beat FM Sheikh Nasir Ahmed, FM Mohammad Javed drew with GM Enamul Hossain Razib of Saif Sporting Club, FM Amin beat CM Saiful Islam Chowdhury of Sylhet, CM Nayem Haque of Mir Chess Club drew with FM Abdul Malek of Chattogram, CM Sharif Hossain of Bangladesh Navy beat FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman of Janata Bank Officers Welfare Society, Tahsin Tajwar Zia of Golden Sporting Club beat Anata Choudhury of Sheikh Russel Chess Club, Delwar Hossain of Khulna beat CM SM Sharon of Bangladesh Navy, Emdadul Haque of Satkhira beat Sariatullah of Bangladesh Police, CM Sohel Chowdhury of Titas Club beat WIM Rani Hamid of Bangladesh Ansar and CM Jamal Uddin of Bangladesh Police beat CM Monir Hossain of Narayanganj.
The 7th round matches will be held on Friday (November 8) from 3:00 pm at same venue.
