Sirajganj, Dec 21 (UNB) - Hundreds of passengers have been suffering in a 15-kilometre-long tailback on Dhaka-Sirajganj highway in Kamarkhanda upazila since Friday morning.
The tailback was seen from Mofizmor of Konabari to Hatikumrul circular in the upazila since morning, creating huge sufferings of the commuters.
Many vehicles had to be bound to use alternative routes spanning 25 kilometers more than the actual distance from Chandaikona intersection in Bogura via Mulibari intersection to reach Dhaka, according to several vehicle drivers.
Abdul Quader Jilani, officer-in-charge of Hatikumurul Highway Police Station, said the traffic triggered on both sides of Nakla Bridge as a single lane of the road was kept closed following the construction works of the bridge.
Hundreds of goods-laden trucks and passenger buses were seen stranded on the road due to the slow movement of vehicles all day long.
