BB Governor Fazle Kabir will lay out the MPS at a press conference at the central bank in the city at 11:30am, said a BB press release on Monday.
According to official sources, most of the existing policies will continue in the new MPS with special emphasis on the promotion of private investment to achieve the government’s GDP growth target of 8.2 percent set in the budget for fiscal year 2019-20.
“Most of the policy rates are likely to remain unchanged in the new MPS,” a top BB official told UNB, adding that achieving a sustainable economic growth by containing inflationary pressure will be another major goal.
The BB has been announcing six-month basis monetary policy statement since 2006 mainly focusing on promotion of small and medium enterprises (MSEs) and agriculture sector.
The job creation in the private sector has also been receiving a special thrust.
