The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Wednesday filed a case against AKM Mominul Huq Sayed, Councilor of Dhaka South City Corporation's (DSCC) 9th Ward.
ACC public relations officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told UNB that the councillor, who is also the proprietor of Baishakhi enterprise, acquired an amount of nearly TK 4.5 crore from illegal activities including casino business.
He was removed from his office for remaining absent in the DSCC meets.
An order was issued by the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives in this regard recently.
The order said that Sayed was absent in 13 meetings out of 18 and made overseas trips without the ministry's prior permission.
As Sayed failed to defend himself and the allegations were proved, the LGRD removed him from office, it was stated.
Assistant director of ACC Ataur Rahman filed the case with its head office.
