Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen sought support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Dr Momen discussed the issue during a recent telephone conversation with his Saudi counterpart, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here on Monday.
“The fund, if formed, will play an important contribution to creating employment and arrange training for the unemployed workers during the coronavirus pandemic,” said Dr Momen.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud agreed to the proposal during the virtual conversation.
During the talk, Dr Momen urged Saudi Arabia to import ‘Halal’ meat from Bangladesh. A joint project by two countries can be taken in this regard, he said.
Dr Momen also said that Saudi Arabia has a possibility to import personal protective equipment (PPE) and vegetables from Bangladesh.
He thanked the Saudi government for its overall assistance to expatriate Bangladeshis in Saudi Arabia.
