Chamber Judge Justice Hasan Foyez Siddique passed the order after hearing a petition filed by the state.
This means the convicts —Bahadur Mia, Abdul Khalek and Abdus Shukkur— will have to remain in the condemned cell, Deputy Attorney General Mohammad Bashir Ullah explained.

On December 7, the High Court acquitted them in Hridoy killing case. Later, the state counsel filed a petition seeking a stay on the order.
According to the prosecution, the convicts abducted Hridoy, 6, son of Nurul Alam of Nuniarchata in Cox’s Bazar town, for ransom on July 4, 2013.

Later, the boy was found dead near Ocean Paradise Hotel.
On July 6 that year, the victim’s father filed a case at Cox’s Bazar Sadar Model Police Station.

Police pressed charges in court against four people, including one Jashim, on April 20, 2014.
Lawyer Shishir Monir said Khalek and Shukkur are Myanmar citizens. Khalek and Bahadur had confessed to their crimes before the senior judicial magistrate.

A Cox’s Bazar court on June 7, 2015, acquitted Jashim and sentenced the other three to death.
Their death references were sent to the High Court. The convicts later moved the High Court challenging their sentences.
