The state minister said this while speaking as chief guest at the cheque distribution programme for those affected due to acquisition of about 200 acres of land for setting up the permanent campus of Jagannath University in the area.
He said that the best Jagannath University will be established in Keraniganj of Dhaka.
At the programme, cheques worth nearly Tk 60 crore were distributed among 40 people.
Speaking as special guest Dr Mizanur Rahman, Vice Chancellor of Jagannath University, said “Our university will be one of the best universities in Bangladesh. The university has about 37 departments, more than 700 teachers and over 20,000 students.”
Those who gave up the land for the university were not affected in any way, he said (it was bought from them) urging the students of the area to study in the university.
Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Abu Mohammad Saleh Uddin presided over the programme. Keraniganj Upazila Chairman Shahin Ahmed, Teghoria UP Chairman Hajee Lat Mia, Jinjira UP Chairman Shakur Hossain Shaku, Konda UP Chairman Saidur Rahman Faruk Chowdhury, and senior teachers of Jagannath University and local elites were also present.
