The deceased has been identified as Subroto Mondol, 29, son of Hridoy Mondol of village Banishanta.
Madhobi Mondol, wife of the deceased, said that her husband was in his grocery store at the local bazaar Sunday evening when he received a call on his cellphone at around 9:30 pm.
Following the phone call, he left abruptly on his motorbike, never to return again. His phone meanwhile was found switched off.
Hridoy Mondol, Subroto’s father, said the same thing. His relatives too mounted a search as the hours went by with no sign of Subroto.
Finally around 2am, Subroto’s motorcycle was found abandoned near Moddho Beel. That breathed new life into the search party, and they were able to stick it out till the blood-stained body of Subroto was found another three hours later.
Shafiqul Islam Chowdhury, Officer-in-Charge of Dacope police station, said that “There were injury marks made by a sharp weapon on his throat and body. The body was recovered and sent to the Khulna Medical College Hospital Morgue.”
