In the first two matches of the three-match series, Mithun struck the back-to-back fifties which helped the Tigers to pass 200-runs mark. However, Bangladesh have capitulated to the Kiwi in both of the first two matches by a big margin of eight wickets.
“Mithun had suffered a hamstring injury in the second match of the series and a scan suggested he will not be available in the next match,” Khaled Mashud, the manager of Bangladesh team, told the media.
In the first match of the series, Mithun came to bat at number five after losing four wickets in 50 runs and struck 62 to propel the Tigers to 232. He hit another fifty in the second match coming to the middle after losing four wickets in 81 runs. He finished with 57 off 69 balls.
“It will take at least 10 to 12 days for Mithun to recover from the injury. We hope he will be available to play the first Test,” Mashud further said.
Along with Mithun, there is also a concern regarding the fitness of Mushfiqur Rahim.
The right-handed batsman also has an injury as he is suffering from a side strain.
Bangladesh team manager also said the decision regarding the participation of Mushfiqur in the last match will be taken after the pre-match warm-up.
