“The government will never compromise over the freedom of judiciary as the country’s development takes place when the rule of law, freedom of judiciary and people’s trust in law exit,” he said.
The minister was inaugurating a judicial administration training of lower court judges as the chief guest at the Judicial Administration Training Institute in the city.
He said sections 22 and 94 (4) of the Constitution framed by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman stipulate the freedom of judiciary. “The judiciary would have been freed much earlier had Bangabandhu not assassinated in 1975. After killing of Bangabandhu, a culture of impunity developed in the country,” he said.
Anisul said the judiciary is burdened with some 34 lakh cases and training is necessary to deal with various types of cases.
