Huawei: 'Fastest-growing' cloud provider in Asia-Pacific
Global ICT solutions provider Huawei has said its Cloud has become the "fastest-growing" cloud provider in Asia-Pacific.
In Bangladesh, the government, Robi, IFAD Autos, bdjobs.com, Rokomari.com, Daily Star, DBC News, Ekattor TV, Symphony Softech, New Zealand Dairy, Ajkerdeal.com, Perfee, deliveryTIGER, UNITEX, and FLORA TELECOM are using Huawei Cloud.

Also, Huawei provided cloud service for the launch of the virtual Amar Ekushey Boi Mela last February so that the visitors and interested people can access all information related to the fair through a website.
In 2021, Huawei Cloud's key customers in Asia-Pacific increased by 156 percent, and the number of ecosystem partners grew by 90 percent.

Huawei Cloud will bring new cloud solutions and services to the region in 2022, namely global network acceleration service (GA), real-time audio and video service (SparkRTC), software development production line (DevCloud), and financial distributed database GaussDB (for openGauss), according to a media statement.
Huawei Technologies willing to support RMG sector in renewable energy: BGMEA
Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei Technologies is willing to provide technical solutions and support to the RMG industry of Bangladesh in increasing the capacity of renewable energy generation in the sector, says BGMEA on Thursday.
A delegation of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd met President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters association (BGMEA) Faruque Hassan at BGMEA’s Gulshan office recently and expressed their interest.
The Huawei delegation included Li Zongsheng (Jason), Board Member; Liang Weixing, Managing Director for Digital Power Business Group; Najia Samantha Islam, Manager, Public Affairs and Communications; and Md Nur Alam, Account Manager, Bangladesh Digital Power Business.

BGMEA Vice President Miran Ali was also present at the meeting.
They had discussions on possible scope of increasing renewable energy usage by using solar plants in the garment industry and how Huawei can provide its technical solutions to achieve the objective.
BGMEA President Faruque Hassan mentioned the impressive progress of Bangladesh’s RMG industry in terms of sustainability and continuous strides in pursuing excellence in the area.
He said Bangladesh is proud to have the highest number of green garment factories in the world with more factories are in the process of becoming green.

“However, instead of becoming complacent, we have continued our efforts in making our RMG industry green more and more with adaptation of environment-friendly and energy and resource efficient technologies,” said the BGMEA chief.
A green factory helps to reduce the energy usage by 40 percent and water consumption by more than 30 percent while it also emits less carbon, thus ensuring environmental safety, he said.
The BGMEA President requested Huawei Technologies to bring innovative and cost-effective solar plants to garment factories at affordable prices.

Huawei recognised 2022 Gartner Peer Insights Customers' Choice for 3rd straight year
Telecom giant Huawei was recently recognised as a 2022 Gartner Peer Insights Customers' Choice for WAN edge infrastructure for the third consecutive year.
Huawei SD-WAN was also named the "Customers' Choice" in three categories – midsize enterprise, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in the Voice of the Customer report.
As of December 31, 2021, customers across various industries, such as finance, manufacturing, and services, had comprehensively reviewed WAN edge infrastructure products and solutions from multiple vendors in terms of product functionality, deployment, operation and maintenance, and service support.

According to the Voice of the Customer report, Huawei SD-WAN received 102 reviews and an overall rating of 4.9/5 stars from customers across industries around the globe.
For the first time, Gartner, an information technology research and consultancy company, has categorised WAN edge infrastructure vendors into four quadrants based on user interest and adoption, and overall rating.
Huawei received a 100 percent score in willingness to recommend and scored the highest overall rating of 4.9/5 stars.

"We're thrilled to see all enterprise customers' trust in our SD-WAN solution. This is a testament to Huawei's longstanding dedication and outstanding market performance in the SD-WAN field," said George Lin, president of the enterprise business group, Huawei Technologies Bangladesh.
Huawei is an established player in the SD-WAN market, having served thousands of customers around the world, including in Italy, Spain, Japan, Thailand, Mexico, and China.
Seeds for the Future winners visit Huawei Bangladesh headquarters
Winners of last year's Seeds for the Future programme, a CSR programme by Chinese telecom giant Huawei for aspiring science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and non-STEM students, recently visited the Huawei Bangladesh headquarters in Dhaka.
The winners were allowed to experience how different operations and services are done at the Huawei office. It was an eye-opening experience for them as they got the chance to learn from experts and develop insights on different ICT-related topics such as networking and cloud services.
In a special session during their visit, Yuying Karl, head of public affairs and communications department at Huawei Bangladesh, guided them in their further growth.
Yuying said: "We want to do everything for developing ICT talents in the country and give them proper exposure so that they can gather proper ICT knowledge. I believe the visit will help the champions in forming ideas about different technical and networking issues prevalent in the industry."

Last year, 15 students from different universities were selected as the winners from Bangladesh.
Launched in Bangladesh in 2014, Seeds for the Future has been nurturing ICT talents since its inception and become popular among academics as well as students.
Huawei summit held in China
Huawei on Tuesday kicked off its 19th annual Global Analyst Summit in China’s Shenzhen.
The summit gathered industry analysts, financial analysts, key opinion leaders and media representatives from around the world to learn more about future industry trends and Huawei's development strategy.
At the event, Ken Hu, Huawei's Rotating Chairman, said, "We will strengthen our approach to innovation, equip all industries to go digital and intelligent, and help build a low-carbon world."

Ken Hu described three key initiatives for the future growth of this company. Firstly, Innovating nonstop and advancing the industry; secondly, Diving into digital transformation to create new value for customers; and thirdly, Optimizing power supply and consumption with digital technology to enable low-carbon development.
At the summit, the company announced its vision to enable 10 Gbps connections everywhere with 5.5G and F5.5G, the next evolutions in wireless and fixed networks. Together, these will support a broader range of niche network requirements, including a more immersive experience in homes.
With Huawei Cloud as the foundation, Huawei aims to provide ‘Everything as a Service’, turning infrastructure, technology, and expertise into cloud-based services making cloud migration easier for customers in different industries.

In cloud services, Huawei is building MetaStudio, a cloud-based, end-to-end digital content pipeline that will greatly expedite digital content production.
Under the third key initiative, Huawei is redefining the PV sector with AI, cloud, and other capabilities to boost the generation of renewable energy.
Huawei is also developing system-level low-carbon solutions for green ICT infrastructure, focusing on wireless base stations and data centers.

'Seeds for the Future 2022 Bangladesh' inaugurated
"Seeds for the Future 2022, Bangladesh," a CSR programme by Chinese telecom giant Huawei for aspiring science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and non-STEM students was inaugurated in the capital Sunday.
It aims to inspire ICT talents and help them gather industry-oriented knowledge.
To initiate the programme, roadshows are being arranged at the participating universities this month.

This year Dhaka University, the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology, Islamic University of Technology, Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Brac University, East-West University and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology will take part in Seeds for the Future.
In the next stage, the winners will participate in the global platform along with other successful participants from different countries.

At the inauguration ceremony, Deputy Minister for Education Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury said: "Many technology companies from different countries are doing business in Bangladesh. But very few have come out from that business domain and assisted our youngsters, our next generation to be skilled. So, I want to thank Huawei."
Pan Junfeng, CEO of Huawei Technologies Bangladesh, said: "We keep organising different programmes to open up new avenues and platforms for the youth to gather knowledge and develop insights. Seeds for the Future is one such programme where the participants get to know about the industry practices directly from the experts and can put their calibre to the test."

Huawei Bangladesh recently organised a campus recruitment event at the Islamic University of Technology (IUT).
The top few participants will get an opportunity to work with this leading global ICT infrastructure and solutions provider.
This campus recruitment event was organised for the students of the computer science and engineering and electrical and electronics engineering departments of IUT.

Around 196 students from these two departments took part in the test. The test was conducted in two phases – MCQ exam, followed by an interview – to select the candidates for final recruitment.
Huawei organises similar recruitment events in other public and private universities regularly.
Abu Raihan Mostofa Kamal, head of the CSE department of IUT, said: "Every student has a lot to contribute to the industry, to society. To give them an opportunity, a collaboration between universities and different organisations is very important and it will also help develop the ICT ecosystem and local resources."

Akij sets up rooftop solar plant with Huawei's technology
Akij Group recently set up its first rooftop solar plant at Janata Jute Mill in Boalmari, Faridpur.
Chinese telecom giant Huawei provided technical solutions and support to this initial 470 KW project along with the engineering procurement construction partner Cynergy.
"Bangladesh should now turn its attention to renewable energy as this is where the future lies. We should set a goal to generate 100 percent of electricity from renewable sources by 2025," Akij Group Managing Director Sheikh Bashir Uddin said.

Huawei BUET ICT Academy to develop talent ecosystem
Chinese telecom giant Huawei and the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) has set up an ICT academy to equip young learners with industry-fit skills and develop a talent ecosystem.
This ICT academy has been established as a non-profit education programme where the learners will be provided training and learning solutions to meet the needs of the ICT sector.
An opening ceremony was organised Wednesday at BUET.

State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present at the event as the chief guest and Pan Junfeng, CEO of Huawei Bangladesh, Dr Satya Prasad Majumder, vice-chancellor of BUET, were also present.
The participants in the academy's programme will get a chance to communicate with more than 3,000 instructors from around the world.
There will be 83 certification programmes on 19 different subjects as per the current plan.

The course and certification will be coordinated by Huawei Authorized Information and Network Academy.
Students will get three types of grade certificates based on their achievements from the ICT Academy – associate, professional, and expert.
Satya Prasad said: "The academy will contribute significantly to the existing curriculum of BUET as well as help the aspiring learners to develop themselves by acquiring hands-on experience and get insights about the industry."

Huawei Bangladesh CEO Pan Junfeng said: "In 2013, Huawei initiated its ICT Academy, a school-enterprise cooperation project, to help build a talent ecosystem. Huawei is happy to extend this project to Bangladesh as well."
The journey of Huawei BUET ICT Academy will also begin with around 250 students initially.
Huawei has more than 1500 such ICT academies in over 90 countries around the world.

To date, the academies have started their activities in many other countries, including Pakistan, Zambia, and China.
Huawei to enrich digital solutions to empower APAC's green development
At an online media roundtable recently, Chinese telecom giant Huawei reiterated its commitment to empowering the green and sustainable future of the digital economy in Asia-Pacific (APAC).
To create a greener and more sustainable digital world, Huawei will increase investment in sustainable green solutions, leveraging clean power generation, electric transportation, and smart energy storage, to support APAC's goals of cutting carbon emissions, promoting renewable energy, and contributing to a circular economy, according to Jay Chen, vice-president of Huawei APAC.

At that media session arranged during MWC 2022 Barcelona, he said: "At Huawei, we are working closely with carriers and partners from around the world to explore solutions that help make life better, businesses smarter, and society more inclusive. We'd also love to share how our ICT technology is helping make the world a greener, more sustainable place."
In 2021, Huawei announced to support the digital ecosystem in APAC and shared that it would invest $50 million to develop 500,000 digital talents for the region in the next five years and would invest $100 million over three years to cultivate the startup ecosystem.
