Xiaomi Poco F5 Pro 5G Review: What’s new?
In the fast-paced world of smartphones, Xiaomi has emerged as a prominent player, consistently pushing boundaries with its innovative and feature-packed devices. In August 2018, Xiaomi launched its sub-brand Poco with an aim to provide advanced phones to budget-conscious consumers. One such series that has captured the attention of tech enthusiasts is the Xiaomi Poco F Phone series. This lineup offers exceptional performance, cutting-edge features, and affordability, catering to the demands of a wide range of users. Poco has recently announced the launch of F5 Pro. This phone debuts in China in May this year. Let’s see what features you can expect from Poco F5 Pro.
Key Specs of Poco F5 Pro 5G
Design & Display
The Poco F5 Pro comes with a stylish and sleek design with a glass back panel. The curved edges make the phone more comfortable to hold. Despite its 6.41 x 2.97 x 0.34 (inches) dimension, the phone remains lightweight, weighing in at just 204g. The front has a stunning 6.67-inches flat display with ultra-thin bezels, resulting in a truly attractive aesthetic feature.
While the design is impressive, its durability is not the absolute best available. However, the display has Gorilla Glass 5 protection. But it only offers IP53 certification for dust and water protection. The good thing is the display features an AMOLED panel with a remarkable resolution of 3200 x 1440 pixels.

With a maximum 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1400 nits, the display ensures a visually stunning experience. Even under bright conditions outdoors, the Pro HDR support enhances the clarity and beauty of the content, making it appear vivid.
Further, if you are a gamer, you will love to hear that Poco F5 Pro has a 480Hz touch sampling rate making it a more responsive phone compared to other phones in this price range.
The phone comes in black and white colors. The white color features hiding fingerprint marks left on the smooth glass back panel.

Xiaomi POCO F5 5G Review: Is this mid-range phone worth buying
Xiaomi recently launched the Poco F5 5G in India on 9th May 2023. Poco has launched a range of value for money devices with their F series smartphones. Even though the phones of this lineup are meant as mid-range smartphones, what they pack inside would easily compete with yesteryear’s flagships. And their latest innovation Poco F5 5G has pushed that line even further. Here’s how.
Key Specifications of Xiaomi Poco F5 5G
Design and Build Quality
Being a mid-range, the Poco F5 generated quite a buzz even before its release. The device also made it to our list of the best upcoming smartphones for the month of May. And after the release, the hype train has only lengthened.
Much of the excitement has to do with the design of the device itself. The F series goes for a new iteration each year and the F5 is also no different. The device has a glass front, an aluminium frame, and a plastic back.
The back design has an abstract scratch-like design that refracts under direct light. It gives off a fresh snow vibe on the white variant. The aluminium frame is boxy and sturdy, bringing some heft to the device. But the magic is happening on the front.

Weighing 181g, the Xiaomi’s Poco F5 5G has dimensions of 6.34 x 2.95 x 0.31 (inches). Its display is protected by the corning gorilla glass 5.
Before the Nothing Phone 1, there weren’t really any mentionable mid-range smartphones with a uniform front bezel. The Poco F5 has brought that uniformity and has done a better job at it. The bezels are much thinner all around compared to the Nothing Phone 1 and it honestly feels like a Samsung S23 from the front.
The usual selection of ports and buttons are all there. The micro SDXC has been scrapped but the headphone jack has made a comeback. It's unusual to see headphone jacks on a premium midrange device in 2023. The fingerprint and the volume button are mounted on the right. The sim tray slot is on the left with the secondary noise-cancelling mic on top.
The only gripe with the design would be the fingerprint scanner. As a premium midrange, Poco could’ve easily incorporated an in-display fingerprint scanner. But overall, the build and the design will impress most people.

The Display
The 6.67-inch display on the Poco F5 is probably its biggest highlight. While being a midrange, Poco has somehow incorporated a 12 bits AMOLED FHD panel on the device featuring resolutions of 1080 by 2400 pixels, 20:9 ratio, along with 395 ppi density.
For context, 12 bits can produce up to 68B colours, which was only reserved for the premium flagships up until now. In comparison, most midrange and some flagships come with 10 bits which produce 1B colours.
There is also Dolby Vision and HDR10+ to support such a wide colour array. And the 120 Hz refresh makes interaction buttery smooth.
The spec on the paper also translates to use. There are no weird colour shifts on the angles and everything looks much more contrasty than an average midrange. Users would definitely enjoy the panel for normal use and media consumption.
The display also has a typical 500 nits brightness with a 1000 nits HBM for perfect outdoor viewing.

The Camera
The Poco F5 has a triple camera setup. The main sensor is a 64 MP (f/1.8) wide-angle shooter complemented by an 8MP (f/2.2) ultrawide and a 2 MP (f/2.4) macro shooter. From the spec, the F5 has been geared to be a performance-oriented device and as such, users will be getting the same camera hardware from the Poco F4.
It's not necessarily a bad thing as the camera can shoot decent images in broad daylight. The colours look crisp with great details and dynamic range. The lack of a depth sensor means the portrait mode will be a hit or miss at times.
The low-light performance of the F5 is also satisfactory. The videography on the F5 is a bit choppy on 4K as there is no EIS.
There’s also a 16 MP (f/2.5) selfie shooter at the front. Compared to the Nothing Phone 1, the camera experience on the F5 falls short slightly. It's not a deal breaker, but if camera is the priority, then there are better options out there at this price point.

OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G Review: What’s special about it?
OnePlus Technology, the subsidiary of OPPO, has steadily expanded to include midrange and budget devices in its product line. The Nord CE series were the perfect mid-range with the Lite being their budget offering. This year, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G was released on April 11 2023 in China with a subsequent global release. The CE 3 Lite successes the CE 2 Lite with some interesting developments. Let’s have a look.
Key Features of OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite
Design and Build Quality
The OnePlus Nord CE 3 is a through-and-through budget device. The build material may reflect on that but rest assured, the CE 3 Lite is a well-built hefty device at 195 gm. The phone has a glass front, plastic frame, and back with a glossy finish to emulate the glass-back design. The front glass is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass.
The Nord CE 3 Lite moves away from the design elements of its predecessor, the CE 2 Lite. Instead of dual tone back with a separate camera housing, users will be getting a flush glossy back with two protruding camera sensors, much like the iPhone 12.

However, the quirk is somewhere else. Users would be surprised to see that even though there are two camera cutouts on the back, the official spec sheet mentions triple camera setup. That is because one of the camera cutouts, specifically the bottom one, houses two camera sensors. It’s a unique design choice that helps to keep things minimal at the back.
Coming to ports and buttons, the volume rocker and the sim tray are situated on the left of the device with the power button being on the right. The power button also doubles as the fingerprint scanner on the Nord CE 3 Lite.
Being a budget device, the headphone jack is also present on the CE 3 Lite, right beside the Type C charging port. A single-firing speaker also finds its place at the bottom. The top of the device is flush with just the secondary noise cancellation mic for better call clarity.

Overall, the design is a slight move towards minimalism from the CE 2 Lite. Whether that is a good thing or bad remains subjective.
Display
The display on the Nord CE 3 Lite is an IPS LCD one. The choice of LCD panel is understandable given the budget it comes at. However, the lack of an AMOLED panel is somewhat made up by the 120 Hz refresh rate and FHD+ resolution. The panel boasts around 550 nits of typical brightness with 680 nits of HBM. Though these aren’t industry-leading stats in any way, it's still decent for its price.
Speaking of quality, the panel is exactly as you’d expect LCDs to be. The blacks aren’t deep black and there are some color shifts in extreme angles. Other than that, the smooth scrolling and accurate color recreation make for a compelling and interactive experience.

Camera
The Nord CE 3 Lite features three cameras on the back. The main camera is a whooping 108 MP one with the complementing two sensors being a 2 MP macro and depth sensor. It’s clear that the 108 MP sensor is the key player here as it will be doing all the heavy lifting.
Infinix Hot 30 Review: Budget-friendly phone with a smart design
The budget segment of smartphones is now more saturated than ever. With new releases every month, it’s becoming increasingly difficult to decide which one offers the best value for money. Infinix recently launched its latest device Hot 30 in Bangladesh on March 31. The device has already attracted consumers with its striking design and other features. Let’s take a look at the key specs, pros, cons, and price of Infinix Hot 30.
Key Features of Infinix Hot 30
Design and Build
The Hot series from Infinix always experiments with design. And each year, their designs bring a breath of fresh air to the segment of budget-friendly smartphones. Holding this legacy, the design is perhaps the most striking quality of the Hot 30.
Weighing 196g, Infinix Hot 30 bears dimensions of 168.7mm by 76.6mm by 8.4mm.

The first thing a user will notice is the glossy back with refractive patterns. The angular curved lines give a 3D effect to the back and offer impressive light play in its color variants including Racing Black, Surfing Green, Sonic White, Free Fire, etc.
This year too Infinix has gone with an iPhone-like design with a boxy shape and flat edges. And if it's any wonder, yes, the device can stand vertically.
The dual camera sensor along with the proprietary flash has been arranged in such a way that it exudes the triangular camera cutout of the iPhone. It's not a complete rip-off, rather it gives the Hot 30 a distinct look with the refractive glossy back.

The device is made up of a glass front, plastic back, and plastic frame. The frame has a brushed chrome finish to give it an aluminum-like appearance. It does a great job of resisting fingerprints.
All the usual ports and button selections are here. Here you will find a power button, fingerprint scanner, volume rocker, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and an extendable micro SDXC slot.
Display
Infinix Hot 30 comes with a 6.78-inch IPS LCD display featuring a 90 Hz refresh rate. The choice of LCD in this price segment is understandable. What matters is how well the panel is calibrated.

With resolutions of 1080 by 2460 pixels, Hot 30 has about 396 PPI density. The FHD+ display in testing looked sharp and crisp with better-viewing angles than the preceding Hot 20. The panel also has 500 nits of brightness with an additional 100 nits in High Brightness Mode (HBM).
The Hot 30 can be a good choice for media consumption and day-to-day use. The high refresh rate combined with the crisp display makes it a pleasure to interact with.
Camera
Infinix Hot 30 sports a dual camera setup on the rear side. The main sensor is a 50 MP wide-angle shooter featuring f/1.6 aperture and a ½.55-inch lens size; while the secondary camera is unspecified.

The secondary shooter on the ancestor Hot 20 was a QVGA sensor so it's likely that the one that comes with the Hot 30 is also a QVGA one.
Samsung Galaxy A54 5G Review: Worth the price tag?
Samsung is the true undisputed king of providing smartphone options at every price point. Though this South Korea-based tech conglomerate works in diverse industries, the smartphone lineups brought them an immense reputation. They bring a mix of the latest specs and features in a value-for-money package. And it especially holds true for their premium mid-range devices, the A series smartphones. The latest in the lineup, the Samsung A54 5G was globally released on 24th March. Here’s a detailed take on the device.
Key Specifications of Samsung Galaxy A54 5G
Design and Build Quality
The design of the A54 is reminiscent of its predecessor the A34. Samsung doesn’t really bring many cosmetic changes in their mid-range devices as the A series has had a consistent design for quite a few years now. The most prominent change is on the front display with the A54 comes with a punch-hole panel instead of the waterdrop notch found on the A34. Other than that, the back is the same with a glossy finish and a triple vertical camera sensor.
The aluminum body is sandwiched between glass panels. This year, the IP rating is at 67 meaning the device isn't completely waterproof, but rather dust and water-resistant. Though Samsung claims that the device will be fine for 30 minutes to under 1 meter of water.

The ports and button selection are as usual. The power and volume buttons are strategically positioned on the right. The sim slot is on the left. Samsung has opted for a hybrid sim slot where users will be able to swap the second sim for a micro SDXC.
Weighing 202g its dimensions are 158.2 by 76.7 by 8.2 mm. This device might feel heavy to handle with one hand.
Rest everything is what’s expected from Samsung. A solid-built device that justifies the price.
The Display
The display is mostly the same as last year. Samsung has opted for a 6.4-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate. It offers 1080 by 2340 pixels of resolution featuring a 19.5:9 ratio and about 403 ppi density. Furthermore, the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
Read More: Xiaomi 13 Lite Review: Is this semi-flagship phone worth consideration?
The display is a tad smaller than the last generation which might not sound like an ideal choice. But given the pixel concentration and the overall smaller footprint of the A54, this move seems to have played in Samsung’s favor. The PPI has gone up and the chin bezels are even thinner, giving the device an almost uniform bezel design.
Moving onto the display itself, the typical Samsung magic is evident from the get-go. The display is crisp and bright with some tight viewing angles. Samsung has been a market leader in panels and it's easy to say that the display on the A54 is the best in its price category. This year Samsung has also bumped up the HBM to 1000 nits making it even more legible under direct sunlight.
Overall the panel will make for an impressive device interaction no matter what it is used for.
The Camera
The camera sensor has been updated for the new model. Usually, the main sensor is the one that gets updated in incremental releases. But for the A54, Samsung has updated both the main and the ultrawide sensor to 50 MP and 12 MP respectively. The 5 MP macro sensor remains the same.

Speaking of quality, it’s pretty similar to last year. Samsung has significantly upped its post-processing algorithm. Pictures look sharp and contrasty with decent dynamic range in each shot. One way to summarize would be that there are no bad shots with the A54, it consistently delivers similar results.
The videography is rated at 4K at 30 fps max. 4K won’t rival the big brother S23 but it produces a semi-decent result. Additionally, there’s a 32 MP front-facing camera as well. And as typical of Samsung, it produces decent wide-angle shots. Though the photos might feel overprocessed in dimly lit conditions.

Xiaomi POCO X5 Pro 5G Review: Mid-range Phone with Flagship Features
POCO is a sub-brand of the Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi that was launched in 2018. POCO aims to offer high-end specifications at a lower price point than Xiaomi’s flagship devices, making them an attractive option for budget-conscious consumers. The ‘POCO X’ lineup is the brand’s flagship line of smartphones that are known for their powerful processors, high refresh rate displays, large batteries, and attractive designs. POCO launched X5 Pro 5G on February 06, 2023, in India. Let’s see POCO X5 Pro’s features and price.
Key Features of POCO X5 Pro 5G
Read on to get a detailed review of X5 Pro.
Design
Despite looking distinct from the Poco X4 Pro, the Poco X5 Pro bears a clear resemblance to its predecessor. Its design features flat sides, a flat rear panel, and a flat screen, giving it a slab-like appearance that is shared by other smartphones, such as the Redmi Note 11 Pro and the Xiaomi 12 Lite. These comparisons are significant as these devices share many similarities.
Although the POCO X5 Pro’s chassis seems to be made of metal and the screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 5, the back panel is constructed of plastic.
Read More: Infinix Zero 5G 2023 Turbo Review: What’s special about it
In keeping with convention, the camera module is positioned in the top left corner, with the branding placed alongside it against a black background, creating the illusion that the module is much larger than it really is. POCO has worked with the same design approach that it used with the X4 Pro, though with a different orientation.
The POCO X5 Pro is quite large, measuring 76mm in width and 7.9mm in thickness, which is further accentuated by its flat sides. Its dimensions make it unwieldy for one-handed use, and it is not an ideal choice for individuals with smaller hands.
Although POCO claims that this is the thinnest phone in its X-series lineup, with the X4 Pro measuring 8.1mm in thickness, it is unlikely that you will be able to detect the 0.2mm difference between the two models.

The dual LED flash is used for low-light photography, providing more even lighting and brighter pictures.
The 8MP selfie camera will provide a much sharper and clearer image compared to a lower-resolution camera. Further, the wide f/2.0 aperture of the camera will allow for a shallow depth of field, creating a more professional and cinematic look to your photos. The wider aperture will also allow for improved low-light performance, allowing for brighter and better-looking photos in low-light conditions.
The camera also has a range of features to help you get the best shots. These include eye tracking, which allows the camera to identify and focus on a person’s face, and touch focus, which allows you to select the area of the image you want to focus on.
