BPL Football likely to resume Tuesday
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has decided to resume the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21 Tuesday after a break of two weeks.
Chittagong Abahani will play Uttar Baridhara Club at the Kamalapur Stadium; Rahmatganj MFS will face Brothers Union at the Bangabandhu National Stadium when the league restarts.

BFF Senior Vice-President and Professional Football League Management Committee Chairman Abdus Salam Murshedy informed the media about the federation's latest decision Sunday.
"Including the Bangladesh Army Stadium in Banani as a BPL Football venue is also on the cards," he said.

The BPL, which had earlier been scheduled to restart on July 24 after the Eid holidays, was deferred to July 30.
Once again, it was put off Friday. The postponement came just 60 minutes before matches had been due to start.
BPL Football put off at the last moment
The Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21, which was scheduled to resume Friday, was postponed at the last moment.
The Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) announced a new BPL fixture for the 20th and 21st round matches Thursday night to restart the league today. However, the postponement came just 60 minutes before Friday's matches had been due to start.
The BFF today postponed the remaining second phase BPL matches saying, "We will keep everyone in the loop after reviewing the overall situation."

The BPL, which had earlier been scheduled to restart on July 24 after the Eid break, was deferred to July 30.
As per the latest fixture, Chittagong Abahani were scheduled to face Uttar Baridhara Club at 4pm at the Kamalapur Stadium and Rahmatganj MFS were supposed to play against Brothers Union Club at the same time at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today.
BPL Football defers by six days
Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21, which was scheduled to resume on Saturday (July 24) after the Eid break, has been deferred by six days.
The 20th round of the prestigious league will now begin on July 30.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the BFF Professional League Management Committee held Friday night.
Chittagong Abahani Ltd scheduled to play Uttar Baridhara Club at 4:pm at the Kamalapur Stadium while Rahmatganj MFS due to play Brothers Union Club at the same time at the Banglabandhu National Stadium here on Saturday.
BPL Football: Sheikh Jamal move to 2nd slot beating Sheikh Russel 2-0
Former champions Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club moved to the second slot in the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21 standings, beating Sheikh Russel 2-0 Monday.
Sheikh Jamal DC secured 38 points from 17; third-placed Dhaka Abahani earned 36 points from 18 encounters.
Sheikh Russel remained at the seventh slot with 27 points from 18 outings; star-studded Bashundhara Kings are dominating the league securing 49 points from 18 matches.

After a goalless first half at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, Gambian booters Suleiman Silla and Omar Jobe scored two quick goals in six minutes (60th and 66th minutes) for Sheikh Jamal.
With Monday's goal, Omar emerged as the second-highest goalscorer in the BPL along with the Kings' Raul Becerra, who scored 15 goals. Robinho of the table-toppers is dominating the goalscorers' list with 17 goals.
In the day's other match, Saif Sporting Club earned a 4-3 victory over Arambagh Krira Sangha at the same venue.
With the win, Saif SC advanced to the sixth slot in the league table securing 29 points from 18 matches; Arambagh remained at the bottom of the standings with five points from 17 matches.

Emmanuel, Maraz, Fahim and Jamal Bhuiyan scored one each for the winners; Abdukodirov, Ugli and Arafat struck for Arambagh.
BPL Football: Ctg Abahani hand Bashundhara Kings first defeat
Chittagong Abahani forced title aspirant Bashundhara Kings to taste their first defeat in the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21 Sunday.
The Kings, who secured 49 points as the only unbeaten team in the league, suffered a 2-1 defeat at the Bangabandhu National Stadium in their 18th match. Chittagong Abahani moved to the fifth slot after collecting 31 points from 18 matches.

Nigerian forward Matthew Chinedu emerged as the day's hero, scoring both goals for the port city team in the 39th and 89th minutes.
Brazilian footballer Robson Robinho got one back for the Kings in the 87th minute and he is dominating the highest goal scorers' list with 17 individual goals in the league.

However, luck did not favour the Kings as their celebrated Argentine forward Raul Becerra spoiled the chance to score from a penalty in the 50th minute.
In the day's other BPL match, Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra caused another upset in the league, beating six-time champions Dhaka Abahani 4-2 at the same venue in the evening.
Despite the defeat, Dhaka Abahani stayed at the second slot, with 36 points from 18 matches; Muktijoddha remained at the 11th spot after collecting 14 points from 17 matches.

Ivory Coast booter Ballo Famoussa struck twice for Muktijoddha in the 45th and 63rd minutes, while his compatriot Ibrahim Abou Dicko and Nipu added two more goals in the 17th and 84th minutes.
Sunday Chizoba scored for Abahani in the stoppage time of the first half (45+2) from a penalty. Faisal Ahmed Shitol netted the second goal for them in the stoppage time of the match (90+2).
BPL Football: Mohammedan thump Uttar Baridhara 4-1
Dhaka Mohammedan SC earned a 4-1 victory over Uttar Baridhara Club Saturday in the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football 2020-21.
Despite the win at the Bangabandhu National Stadium, Mohammedan remained at the fourth spot in the league table, securing 32 points from 18 matches; Uttar Baridhara Club stayed at the ninth slot with 15 points from 17 encounters.

Amin Hakim Bappy put Mohammedan ahead in the 19th minute (1-0), while Sumon Reza restored parity for the Baridhara Club just five minutes later (1-1).
Mali forward Souleymane Diabate again put Mohammedan SC ahead in the 36th minute (2-1), while Anik Hossain made it 3-1 in the stoppage time of the first half (45+2 minute).
Yassan Quatching of Cameroon sealed the fate of the match scoring one more goal for Mohammedan in the 81st minute (4-1).

In Saturday's other match, Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society drew 1-1 with Bangladesh Police FC at the same venue in the evening.
Nigerian forward Felix Chidi Odili scored for Rahmatganj MFS in the 13th minute; Christian Kouakou of Ivory Coast restored parity for Police FC in the 26th minute from a penalty (1-1).
BPL Football to resume Wednesday
The remaining matches of the country's most prestigious soccer meet, the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football' 2020-21, will resume in Dhaka on Wednesday (July 14).
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) earlier postponed the heavyweight league temportely from July 2 due to contineous rainfall, unplayable condition of grounds, weather forecast reports and for the countrywide lockdown for Covid-19.
Due to existing Covid-19 situation, all the BPL matches will now be held at two venues in Dhaka --Banglabandhu National Stadium and Fortis Football Club ground in Badda.

On resuming day (Wednesday) of BPL, Sheikh Russel KC will play Muktijoddha Sangsad KC at 4 pm at the Banglabandhu National Stadium here.
On the following day (Thursday), Sheikh Jamal DC will meet Saif Sporting Club at the same time and same venue.
Before Eid-ul-Azha, only two matches will be held at new venue --Fortis FC ground-- on July 17 and 19. Rahmatganj MFS will face Bangladesh Police on July 17 while Saif SC will encounter Arambagh KS on July 19.
The league will continue till July 19 and will resume again on July 23 after three-day break for Eid festival.

In the BPL, star studded Bashundhara Kings poised for their 2nd league crown as they are comfortably dominated the league table as lone unbeaten team securing 49 points from 17 matches, 13 points ahead of their neatest rivals Dhaka Abahani Ltd, which bagged 36 points from 17 encounters.
Meanwhile, the BCL Football '2020-21 already began here from Tuesday (July 13) .
Earlier, the BFF also postponed the Women's Football League and the 3rd Division Football League matches from Thursday (July 1) for the inclement weather and for countrywide lockdown for Covid -19.
BPL, BCL Football matches postponed
All the matches of the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and Bangladesh Championship League (BCL) Football 2020-21 have been postponed.
Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) took the decision to postpone leagues Friday due to continuous rainfall in the capital and unplayable condition of the field. The BFF also considered the weather forecast while making the decision.

The fresh date and fixture for the remaining league matches will be announced later, said the federation.
Earlier, the BFF postponed the Women's Football League, and the 3rd Division Football League matches up to July 7 due to inclement weather and countrywide strict lockdown.

BPL Football: Bashundhara beat Mohammedan 1-0; maintain 100% unbeaten run
Title aspirant Bashundhara Kings extended their unbeaten run to 17 matches in the 13-team Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football after beating Dhaka Mohammedan 1-0 Wednesday.
As the hard-fought second phase match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium was about to end in a draw, Argentine forward Raul Becerra netted the match-winner for the Kings in the stoppage time (90+4 minute).

The Kings' Yeasin and Sujon of Mohammedan got red cards.
With Wednesday's win, star-studded Kings stayed at the top of the table with 49 points from 17 matches, 16 points ahead of their nearest rivals Dhaka Abahani who bagged 33 points from 16 encounters.

Mohammedan remained at the fourth slot with 29 points from 17 matches.
The day's other match between Brothers Union Club and Bangladesh Police ended in a goalless draw.
BPL Football: Arambagh KS pull off biggest upset outplaying Sheikh Jamal DC 3-1
Bottom-ranked Arambagh KS pulled off the biggest upset in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football, outplaying former champion Sheikh Jamal DC by 3-1 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium on Tuesday.
Despite the victory, Arambagh KS remained at the bottom of the 13-team league securing five points from 16 matches.

In the match, Arambagh KS not only tasted the first victory in the league but also took revenge of their embarrassing 6-0 goals defeat against Sheikh Jamal in the first phase league.
With the day's maiden defeat in their 15 league match, Sheikh Jamal DC went to third place in the league table after Bashundhara Kings (43 points) and Dhaka Abahani Ltd (32) with their previous credit of 32 points from 15 encounters.

In Tuesday’s match, both sides had scored a goal in the first half.
Gambian forward Omar Jobe put Sheikh Jamal ahead in the 15th minute (1-0) while Uzbek striker Islomjon Abdukadyrov restored the parity for Arambagh KS in the stoppage time (45+1) of the first half (1-1).

Midfielder Omar Faruq and local forward Nihat Zaman Ucchash scored two quick goals for Arambagh KS in the span of only three minutes (54th and 57th) to seal the fate of the match much to the frustration of three-time champion Sheikh Jamal.
