Bangladesh vs Pakistan
Chattogram Test: Pakistan off to strong reply as Abid nears a century
Pakistan off to a strong reply to Bangladesh’s first innings total of 330 in the Chattogram Test at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. At the end of day two on Saturday, Pakistan posted 145 without losing any wicket.
Abid Ali and the debutant opener Abdullah Shafique remained unbeaten for 93 and 52 respectively. Abid needs seven more runs to complete his fourth century in Test cricket.
Bangladesh lost six wickets in the first session of the day, in the next sessions, Pakistan did what Bangladesh did in the same period of the first day— did not lose any wicket.

Shafique survived an lbw— Pakistan’s only worry in the innings. Barring that, Bangladesh failed to create even a half-chance. The debutant reached fifty in his maiden Test innings with a six.
Bangladesh fielded only four specialist bowlers— two pacers and two spinners. Abu Jayed Rahi is leading the pace attack with Ebadot Hossain, and Taijul Islam is leading the spin attack with Mehidy Hasan Miraz.
Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque used himself as the fifth bowler and bowled three overs without a bit of luck.
To make a comeback in the match, Bangladesh needs to bowl out their opponent as fast as possible on the third day.
Earlier, Bangladesh lost their last six wickets only adding 77 runs to their overnight total. They were at 253 for four at the end of day one. Lion Das, who had been going through a bad patch, came up with his maiden Test ton while Mushfiqur Rahim fell short of nine runs from another Test century.
Mushfiqur’s dismissal was a questionable call from the third umpire. Faheem Ashraf’s delivery was landed at the back of a length at the off stump. Mushfiqur tried to push it gently, but the ball seemed to touch his bat and reached the wicketkeeper. The umpire called it out, and Mushfiqur went for a review immediately.

The TV replays showed that there were sounds from two different sources— it was not decisively clear whether one source was the connection between ball and bat.
Bangladesh fielded the debutant batter Yasir Ali Rabbi in this match. But he failed to grab the chance in the first instance. He played 19 balls and only returned four runs.
Hasan Ali, the right-arm pacer, bagged five wickets conceding 51 runs. It was his sixth five-wicket haul in Tests. Shaheen Afridi and Faheem Ashraf took two wickets each for them as well.
With this Test, Bangladesh started the second cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. The second Test of this two-match series will be played in Dhaka from December 4.
In the last World Test championship, Bangladesh played seven Tests and lost six of them, and the other one ended in a draw. After this series, Bangladesh will travel to New Zealand for a two-match Test series.
BAN vs PAK 1st Test 2021: First day shows hope for Bangladesh
The first of two matches Test series between Bangladesh and Pakistan started on Friday (November 26) at the ZACS in Chattogram. Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque chose to bat first and his side fared well after a poor start in the first innings. Yasir Ali has made his debut for Bangladesh, and he will play an important role on day two as the host aim for a big first-innings total. Liton Das's maiden Test century was the highlight of the day. Let's take a look at three crucial points from the first day of the BAN vs PAK 1st Test 2021.
Three Major Highlights of the first day of BAN vs PAK 1st Test 2021
Mushfiqur Rahim's tenacious batting approach
There is a classic saying that goes: you can't buy experience. A well-equipped player can read the match scenario and adjust his strategy accordingly. That is precisely what Mr dependable Mushfiqur Rahim has done in the first innings. Having lost four wickets for 49 runs in 17 overs, Bangladesh seemed down-and-out when he arrived at the crease. Pakistan were in command at the time, and Bangladesh appeared to be on the verge of being bowled out for less than 100 runs. However, Mushfiqur Rahim did what any seasoned player would do and slowed things down while partnering with Liton Das. They finished the first session with a score of 69/4.
Read Bangladesh Women's Cricket: Success Stories and How can they Improve?
Both players started to open their arms in the second session. Liton was a little more aggressive than Mushfiqur. However, having senior cricketer Mushfiqur Rahim as a partner had helped him bat long on day 1 despite feeling cramped several times. Mushfiqur was constantly seen communicating with Liton, pushing him to bat for a long period of time. Liton may not have reached his maiden Test century if Mushfiq had been out early in his innings. Mushfiqur Rahim has remained unbeaten on 82* and his undefeated state is the best achievement of Bangladesh's campaign on the first day.
Liton Das's First Century in Tests
Liton Das's maiden Test century was a momentous occasion for him. More importantly, this century came at a critical moment in Bangladesh cricket. Liton was the last batter to come to the bat on day one after Najmul Hossain Shanto's departure.
Chattogram Test: Imperious Liton strikes maiden ton
Liton Das smashed an unbeaten maiden Test century to guide Bangladesh to post a comfortable 253 for four on the first day of the first Test against Pakistan on Friday in Chattogram.
This has been an imperious comeback of the wicket-keeper-batter, who was dropped from the recently held three-match T20I series against Pakistan for his poor form.
Mushfiqur Rahim, who was also out of the T20I series, made an unbeaten 82 in a stylish comeback with Liton.
Liton was also unbeaten at 113 for 225 with 11 fours and one six.
In the unbroken fifth wicket stand, the two experienced players added 204 runs on the board after losing four wickets in the morning session. This is now the fourth highest fifth wicket stand for Bangladesh in Tests.
Right before the series against Pakistan, Liton had a stinging World Cup campaign in Oman and the UAE where he played eight matches to score only 133 runs at an average of 16.62. It was enough for Bangladesh selectors to leave him out of the T20I team.

However, Liton finally proved that his bad patch was gone, and he got his zeal back on the track.
The right-handed batsman completed his maiden Test ton in 199 balls. He surpassed his previous best of 95 against Zimbabwe.
Riding on wonderful batting efforts from Mushfiqur and Liton, Bangladesh went to the stumps on the first day without losing any wicket in the second and third session.
Earlier, in the first session, Bangladesh lost four wickets for 49.
Saif Hassan and Shadman Islam, Bangladesh’s Test openers, failed to lay down a solid foundation when they both were back to the dressing room in no time. Both contributed 14 each.
Chattogram Test: Bangladesh bat first vs Pakistan
Bangladesh captain Mominul Haque won the toss and elected to bat first in the first Test against Pakistan in Chattogram on Friday.
There was an earthquake this morning in the port city, but everything seemed okay as both the teams reached the field on time and the toss took place as per schedule.
Bangladesh handed the Test cap to Yasir Ali. The right-handed batter has been in the Test team for a long time but did not get his Test cap. Finally, in his native town, Yasir's dream came true.
Yasir played a total of 57 first-class matches and scored 3,980 runs at an average of 50.37, with nine centuries and 25 fifties.

The hosts fielded four specialists bowlers -- two pacers and two spinners. Abu Jayed will lead the pace bowling attack and Ebadot Hossain will accompany him, while Taijul Islam will lead the spin attack, and Mehidy Hasan Miraz will complement him.
Pakistan also inducted top-order batter Abdullah Shafique into Test cricket. He played three first-class matches and scored 259 runs with two centuries. Before getting his Test cap, Shafique played three T20Is.
It’ll be marked as Bangladesh’s 21st Test at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium. In the last 20 matches, Bangladesh won only two at this venue.

Mominul expects batting-friendly wicket in 1st Test vs Pakistan in Chattogram
Bangladesh’s Test captain Mominul Haque has said he looks forward to a batting-friendly wicket in Chattogram in the first match against Pakistan beginning Friday, even though his batting unit is not in the best of the form.
It will be Bangladesh’s first match in the new cycle of the ICC World Test Championship. The second Test of the series will be played from December 4 at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka.
Read: Khaled, Shohidul added to Test squad
“The wicket looks to be friendly to the batters,” Mominul said in the pre-series press conference on Thursday. “As we have seen before, the Chattogram wickets are so friendly to the batters. We are expecting the same in this series.”
In the last ICC Test Championship, Bangladesh played seven Tests and lost six of them with a draw.
At the beginning of a new cycle of the event, Bangladesh are going to miss the service of the ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan and experienced batter Tamim Iqbal.
While Tamim is out of this series entirely, Shakib is going to miss the first Test, and he is also uncertain for the second Test.
Mominul said they still are hoping to pose a strong challenge to Pakistan with the men he already has. But to ensure a good result, according to Mominul, Bangladesh need to play well in all sessions of the match.
“Momentum can change at any moment in Tests,” Mominul said.
“You have to play well in all sessions of the match. If you play well in 12 sessions of the first four days and do badly in the three sessions of the last day, you will lose the match, ” he said.
Mominul also said he is going to be stick to his own plan instead of thinking much about what others have to say during the match.
While Bangladesh are missing the service of Shakib and Tamim, they are getting back Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das who missed the T20 series.\

“Liton’s poor show in T20Is is going to make no impact in Tests. You cannot compare one’s T20I performance with his Test’s. I believe Liton has overcome the bad patch, and he is going to be a great performer for us,” Mominul added.
In the absence of Shakib, Bangladesh is going to field a pace-bowling oriented bowling attack which will be led by Abu Jayed.
Bangladesh has also added two uncapped pacers— Rejaur Rahman Raja and Shohidul Islam.
While Rejaur was added when the squad was announced on Monday, Shohidul made it to the Test squad on Thursday when BCB added him along with Khaled Ahmed who played only two Tests earlier.
The absence of Taskin Ahmed has led Bangladesh selectors to add two extra pacers to the squad. Taskin has been doing well since he made to the Test squad last time.
Like Bangladesh, Pakistan are also focusing on their own game instead of thinking much about the opponents. Pakistan captain Babr Azam said Bangladesh will be tough opponents in Tests.
“It’s home for Bangladesh. We cannot take them lightly,” he said on Thursday. “They are going to miss some experienced players. In that sense, they will field a young side. Still, we cannot take them easily. We have to fight hard to beat them.”

As the Asian cricket side, Pakistan is also confident of doing well riding on their spin-bowling attack beside the pace-bowling unit.
“We have an experienced bowling unit mixed with pacers and spinners, and we are expecting a typical Bangladeshi wicket in this Test. I think the spinners will get the most benefit from the wicket, but the pacers also have something at the start of the day,” Babar added.
Bangladesh and Pakistan took on each other in 11 Tests before this series, and Pakistan won 10 of them with only one draw.
Khaled, Shohidul added to Test squad
Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Thursday added right-arm pacer-duo Khaled Ahmed and Shohidul Islam to the Bangladesh squad that will take on Pakistan in a two-match series.
The first Test is set to begin on Friday at Chattogram’s Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium while the second Test will be played in Dhaka from December 4.

Bangladesh announced the squad for this series on November 22. Two days later, Shakib Al Hasan was ruled out of the squad due to a hamstring injury that he sustained during the T20 World Cup.
Khaled has played two Tests earlier but failed to take any wickets. He also played a total of 29 First-class matches and bagged 61 wickets with three four-wicket and three five-wicket hauls.
Shohidul has recently got his maiden T20I cap. He played 35 First-class matches and bagged a total of 93 wickets with four four-wicket and three five-wicket hauls.
Shohidul is the fourth uncapped player in Bangladesh squad after Yasir Ali, Mahmudul Hasan Joy and Rejaur Rahman Raja.

Bottom Line
Pakistan clearly have the upper hand in the head-to-head Contest against Bangladesh. Bangladesh have never beaten Pakistan in the Test format. In fact, they have only drawn one match against Pakistan and have lost 10. Therefore, expecting the team tigers to win or draw this match would be unrealistic. Bangladesh's best achievement would be to play till the fifth day. Because it will be tough for the Tigers to put up a dominant performance against a full-strength Pakistan side in the BAN vs PAK 1st Test 2021.

The Tigers are looking forward to doing well in the Tests as the veteran batters Mushfiqur Rahim and Liton Das have returned to the national team after missing out on the T20Is.
But Bangladesh are going to miss the service of Shakib Al Hasan in the first Test as the all-rounder is suffering from a hamstring injury. He might take part in the second Test in Dhaka scheduled to start on December 4.
But star batter Tamim Iqbal will miss the series entirely as he needs more time to recover from injury and be fit to play in international match.
The injured opener was expected to take part in the Test series.
Right-arm pacer Taskin Ahmed can’t also play as he injured his bowling arm just before naming the squad for the Test.

How did Bangladesh perform in BAN vs PAK T20I Series 2021?
Bangladesh lost the bilateral series to Pakistan 3-0 after losing the third match by 5 wickets at the SBNCS in Mirpur on Monday (November 22). Bangladesh have now lost eight T20I matches in a row, and there are several issues to consider in order to improve T20 cricket. BCB handed some new players chances in this series, but most of them failed to deliver on the international stage, suggesting that success in the Twenty20 format requires a well-thought-out strategy. Let's take a look at the performance of the Bangladesh players in the BAN vs PAK T20I Series 2021.
Bangladesh Cricket Team's Performance in the BAN vs PAK T20I Series 2021
Bangladesh's top scorer in this series was Afif Hossain, while skipper Mahmudullah took the most wickets. Bangladesh's batting performance was the most disappointing part of the series, and as a result, they failed to win a single match.
Batting/Top order
Bangladesh's top order was inconsistent in the series. Opener Mohammad Naim scored 47 runs in the third match, although his innings was far from impressive. He stayed at the crease till the 19th over, playing 50 balls in the process. This type of approach isn't ideal in the shortest version of the game. Saif Hasan's footwork has been widely criticized, indicating that he is not a suitable T20 batter. Najmul Hossain Shanto had an excellent performance in the second match (40), but he struggled in the remaining two games. In a nutshell, Bangladesh's top order in this series was a complete failure.

Batting/Middle-Order
Bangladesh faced a huge void in the middle-order due to the absence of two seasoned players, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan. Yasir Ali Rabbi was expected to be considered for playing XI, but he didn't receive a chance throughout the series. Afif Hossain, Mahmudullah Riyad, and Nurul Hasan were given responsibilities in the middle order. Only Afif showed some potential, but he has a tendency of getting out after a strong start. The gifted left-handed batter must improve his patience and technique. With the bat, Mahmudullah and Nurul had a quiet series.
The lower-middle order batsman, Mahedi Hasan played a solid innings in the first encounter but failed to deliver in the remaining two matches. Aminul Islam Biplob was unable to show his batting ability in the series. More importantly, the platform had been built for the power hitters in the last two matches, but they were unable to capitalize on it. Therefore, Bangladesh had to settle with modest totals against Pakistan, which were insufficient.

Bowling/ Pace
Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed had excellent ball control. They both took two wickets and were among the most economical bowlers in the series. However, Bangladesh lost the opening match of the series as a result of them. Mustafiz, Taskin, and Shoriful all gave up a lot of runs in the last few overs of the first match, which they eventually lost. Mustafizur Rahman was unable to play in the third match due to an injury, and Shoriful was dropped. Shohidul Islam replaced Mustafiz in the last match and did a good job with the ball, although conceded a few runs. Overall, the pacers looked solid in the series.

Bowling/ Spin
Aminul Islam Biplob was one of the most talked-about players in the series. In the first match, Captain Mahmudullah Riyad was hesitant to utilize him in the middle overs and was strongly criticized for bringing him in the last over. Aminul Islam was properly used in the following two matches and displayed that he is more than capable of picking up wickets. He has a bright future if BCB can properly nurture this leg-spinner. Mahedi Hasan took one wicket and was Bangladesh's most economical bowler in the series (4.91). Captain Mahmudullah Riyad took the most wickets with three, all of which came in the final over of the third match.

Fielding
Bangladesh have improved its ground fielding. However, they also squandered some simple opportunities, lost catches, and were careless in their fielding at times. Fielding is sometimes dictated by the game's circumstances. Bangladesh's overall body language was underwhelming, which had an impact on their performance.
Way Forward
With the exception of a few individual performances, Bangladesh's overall performance in the BAN vs PAK T20I Series 2021 was utterly disappointing. Bangladesh's batting has to improve if they want to compete in the shortest version of the game. More significantly, BCB needs a well-thought-out strategy, particularly in terms of who should play in the Test format and who should be considered for the T20 format. Newcomers require time to establish themselves on the international stage. Bangladesh will not have any T20I series in the near future. They will play the Test and ODI series in New Zealand and South Africa respectively earlier next year.

Bangladesh post 124 vs Pakistan in third T20I
Bangladesh posted a moderate total of 124 for seven in 20 overs in the third T20I of the three-match series against Pakistan on Monday at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.
Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first. Mohammad Naim guided the hosts scoring 47 off 50 balls. Along with him, Shamim Hossain and Afif Hossain also did well scoring 22 and 20 respectively.
The hosts’ batters were missing the x-factor in their batting once again. Both Afif and Shamim got a good start but failed to capitalize on it.
