Global Covid cases top 498 million
The overall number of Covid cases has surpassed 498 million amid a rise in new infections in parts of the world.
According to Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the total case count mounted to 498,154,313 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,176,420 Sunday morning.
The US has recorded 80,399,474 cases so far and 985,482 people have died from the virus in the country, the university data shows.
India's Covid-19 tally rose to 43,035,271 on Saturday, with 2,204 new cases registered in 24 hours across the country, showed the federal health ministry's latest data.
Besides, 122 deaths due to the pandemic reported since Friday morning took the total death toll to 521,695.

Situation in Bangladesh
Bangladesh logged 28 fresh Covid cases in 24 hours till Saturday morning, taking the total caseload to 19,52,023.
As per the latest government data, the country’s total fatalities remained static at 29,123 as no death was reported during the period for the 5th consecutive day.
The daily positivity rate slightly decreased to 0.62 per cent from Friday's 0.77 per cent after testing 4,491 samples during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
On Friday, the number of infections was higher as 48 new cases were reported with no death.
Besides, the mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.49 per cent.
The recovery rate rose to 96.72 per cent with the recovery of 610 more patients during the 24-hour period.
In March, the country reported 85 Covid-linked deaths and 8,000 new cases while 66,639 patients recovered from the disease, according to DGHS.
Among the 85 deaths during the period, 44 were unvaccinated patients, 11 were vaccinated with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, 28 with the second dose and two with the third dose.

Bangladesh logged 56 fresh Covid cases in 24 hours till Saturday morning, taking the total caseload to 19,51,714.
As per the latest government data, the country’s total fatalities remained unchanged at 29,122 as no death was reported during the period.
On Friday, 81 new cases were reported with no death.
The daily positivity rate decreased to 0.88 per cent from Friday’s 1.09 per cent after testing 6,367 samples during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Besides, the mortality rate remained unchanged at 1.49 per cent.
The recovery rate rose to 96.47 per cent with the recovery of 717 more patients during the 24-hour period.

Covid situation in March
In March, the country reported 85 Covid-linked deaths and 8,000 new cases while 66,639 patients recovered from the disease, according to DGHS.
Among the 85 deaths during the period, 44 were unvaccinated patients, 11 were vaccinated with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine, 28 with the second dose and two with the third dose.
On March 27, Bangladesh logged its lowest daily positivity rate at 0.54 per cent reporting 43 cases with zero death.

The overall number of Covid cases has surged past 469 million as the pandemic enters into its third year.
According to Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the total case count mounted to 469,565,560 while the death toll from the virus reached 6,074,234 Saturday morning.
The US has recorded 79,728,165 cases so far and 971,182 people have died from the virus in the country, the university data shows.
India's Covid-19 tally rose to 43,007,841 till Sunday as 3,836 new cases were registered in 24 hours across the country, as per the federal health ministry's latest data.
Besides, 229 deaths due to the pandemic since Saturday morning took the total death toll to 516,510.

Bangladesh reported zero Covid-linked death with 62 fresh cases in 24 hours till Saturday morning
On Friday, the country logged two Covid-related deaths with 106 cases after witnessing zero death from the virus infection for three consecutive days.

Covid-19: Fatalities, cases drop in Bangladesh
Bangladesh logged 15 more Covid-linked deaths with 3,929 fresh cases in 24 hours till Wednesday morning as Bangladesh is seeing a downtrend in both cases and fatalities.
The daily positivity rate slightly decreased to 12.20 per cent from Tuesday’s 13.77 per cent after testing 34,175 samples during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
On Tuesday, Bangladesh reported 34 more Covid-linked deaths with 4,746 fresh cases.

The overall number of Covid cases has surpassed 402 million, with the Omicron variant’s rapid spread across the globe.

Bangladesh logged 33 more Covid-linked deaths with 8,016 fresh cases in 24 hours till Wednesday morning.
The daily positivity rate slightly declined to 18.83% from Tuesday’s 20.03% after testing 42,564 samples during the period, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The number of deaths is the highest in nearly six months as the country last recorded 43 deaths on September 19 last year with 1,383 cases.

India records 235,532 new COVID-19 cases
India's COVID-19 tally rose to 40,858,241 on Saturday as 235,532 new cases were registered during the past 24 hours across the country, showed the health ministry's latest data.

Dhaka division logs highest 43.68% of Covid-linked deaths: DGHS
About 43.68 per cent of the total Covid-linked deaths in the country have been reported in Dhaka division, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
DGHS spokesperson Dr Robed Amin said this at a briefing on Covid-19 on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Chattogram division has occupied the second position with 20 per cent of Covid deaths while Khulna reported 12.88 per cent deaths, Rajshahi 7.35 per cent, Barisal 3.38 per cent and Mymensingh the lowest 3.02 per cent.

Beside, about oxygen storage in the hospitals amid Covid surge, Dr Robed said, “We have stored enough quantity of oxygen, if the number of patients rise in future we hope there will be no big crisis of oxygen.”
Meanwhile, Health authorities have designated Dhaka and Rangamati as ‘red zones’, following an exponential rise in Covid infections in the two districts.
The infection rate in Dhaka and Rangamati is 10-19 per cent, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.
Besides, six districts, including Jashore, have been marked as ‘yellow zones’ or at "mid-level risk". The infection rate in these districts is between 5 per cent and 9 per cent, the directorate said on Wednesday.
On the other hand, 54 districts have been marked as 'green zones' while the sample test rate of Panchagarh and Bandarban districts are poor.

On Wednesday, Bangladesh reported 2,916 more infections and four more deaths in 24 hours till Wednesday morning taking the positivity rate at 11.68 per cent.
The country is currently seeing a surge of Covid-19 cases as health authorities logged 10,392 infections in the last 10 days since January 1.
Global Covid cases surge past 304 million
Amid the global scare over the rising Omicron cases, the overall number of coronavirus cases has surged past 304 million.
According to Johns Hopkins University (JHU), the total case count mounted to 304,858,775 while the death toll from the virus reached 5,484,079 Sunday morning.

The fresh numbers took the country’s total fatalities to 28,099 while the caseload mounted to 15,92, 209.
The mortality rate declined a bit to 1.76 per cent during the period from Friday’s 1.77 per cent.
Meanwhile, the recovery rate further declined to 97.39 per cent with the recovery of 154 more patients during the 24-hour period.
